Canada’s electricity sector is experiencing significant growth and transformation. As Canadians electrify their homes and vehicles, integrate renewable energy technologies into the grid and embrace the impact of digital technology, it is crucial to bring together employers, unions, post-secondary institutions and policymakers to address the labour challenges confronting the sector.

Electricity Human Resources Canada (EHRC) is working with its partners to build a world-class, safety-focused, innovative and inclusive electricity workforce. A key element of our work is telling this sector’s stories to various audiences across various channels.

Curate, build and distribute newsletters and email marketing campaigns that support organizational priorities, audience engagement and awareness.
Edit and review communications materials to ensure consistency in voice, tone, messaging and brand standards.
Serve as a steward of EHRC's organizational voice across communications channels and materials.
Cultivate relationships with industry partners, employers, educators, associations, government and other stakeholders to identify story opportunities, gather workforce insights, amplify EHRC initiatives and support the development of timely, relevant content.
Monitor industry news, media coverage, stakeholder activity and workforce trends to identify emerging issues, communications opportunities and content ideas.

Coordinate external content contributors and vendors to support communications initiatives.
Support media relations activities through research, content development and coordination.
Monitor and report on channel performance, stakeholder engagement and communications outcomes, providing insights and recommendations to support continuous improvement.
Represent EHRC at industry events and support on-site logistics.
Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate is a skilled communicator and storyteller who excels at developing engaging content, building relationships and identifying opportunities to connect EHRC’s work with the needs and interests of the electricity sector. They bring strong editorial judgment, exceptional writing skills and a proactive approach to generating stories and communications opportunities.

Postsecondary education or equivalent experience in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism or a related field.
Minimum of three (3) years of relevant work experience in a communications or marketing role, preferably within a not for profit, association or public-interest environment.

Experience conducting interviews and developing engaging stories from complex information and diverse stakeholder perspectives.
Strong project coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Strong collaboration and relationship-building skills, with experience working across teams and with external stakeholders.
Proficiency with website content management systems, email marketing tools and social media platforms.
Knowledge of the electricity or energy sector is an asset.
Bilingualism in English and French is considered an asset and strongly preferred.

EHRC is a trusted partner, offering evidence-based solutions to the human resource challenges in the electricity sector.

We respectfully acknowledge that we conduct business on the ancestral and unceded territories of all First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples across Turtle Island. EHRC’s head office is located on the traditional, unceded territory of the Algonquin Anishinabe people, whose enduring presence and contributions we honour.
