Cleaner / General Labourer

Position Summary
Electro Cables, a Nexans company, is growing and is currently seeking a Cleaner / General Labourer to support operations at both of our Trenton, Ontario facilities, located on Sidney Street and Riverside Drive.
This is a hands-on position responsible for maintaining clean, safe, and organized facilities while also providing general labour and operational support throughout the plants as required.
The successful candidate will work at both Trenton facilities and may be required to travel between locations multiple times throughout the workday.
Reliable personal transportation and the ability to travel between the Sidney Street and Riverside Drive facilities during the workday are required for this position.

Compensation
The wage range for this position is $22.66 – $26.00 per hour, with a starting rate of $22.66 per hour.
Employees are subject to a probationary period. Wage progression within the range will be based on successful completion of probationary and training requirements, demonstrated skills and abilities, performance, and the responsibilities assigned to the position.
Work Schedule
This is a full-time position consisting of 40 hours per week, with the expectation of working five 8-hour shifts per week.
While participation in a rotating shift schedule is not required, flexibility in hours of work is necessary. The specific work schedule will be determined by the Plant Manager based on the operational needs of the business.
Start and finish times may vary, and the schedule may be adjusted from time to time to ensure appropriate cleaning, general labour, and operational support is available across both facilities.
Key Responsibilities
Cleaning & Facility Maintenance
- Clean and maintain office areas, lunchrooms, washrooms, hallways, stairways, entrances, first-aid areas, and other common areas
- Sweep and mop floors throughout assigned areas
- Clean and disinfect toilets, urinals, sinks, counters, dispensers, and other washroom surfaces
- Restock washroom supplies, including soap, paper towel, and toilet paper
- Clean lunchroom tables, counters, sinks, and appliance exteriors
- Empty garbage, recycling, and shredding and place materials in designated collection areas
- Clean desks, open workspaces, doors, glass, and high-touch surfaces
- Dust shelves, cabinets, furniture, equipment surfaces, and other designated areas
- Spot clean walls, doors, glass, and other surfaces as required
- Complete scheduled and periodic detailed cleaning
- Maintain cleaning supplies and equipment in a clean, safe, and organized manner
- Respond to additional cleaning requirements as needed throughout the facilities
These duties incorporate the cleaning requirements currently identified for the Electro Cables facilities, including office, plant, lunchroom, washroom, hallway, entrance, first-aid and supervisor-office areas. Cleaning Specs GDI
General Labour & Plant Support
- Perform general labour duties throughout both facilities as assigned
- Assist with moving materials, supplies, equipment, and other items as required
- Support general housekeeping and organization throughout production and non-production areas
- Assist with basic facility and operational tasks as directed
- Provide additional support to departments throughout the plants based on operational needs
- Assist with maintaining clean and organized storage, work, and common areas
- Identify and report maintenance, safety, housekeeping, or facility concerns
- Follow all established health and safety procedures while working within active manufacturing environments
- Perform other cleaning, general labour, and facility-support duties as assigned
Work Location & Transportation
This position supports both the Sidney Street and Riverside Drive facilities and will not be assigned exclusively to one location.
The employee may be required to travel between facilities multiple times throughout the workday based on cleaning schedules and operational requirements.
Candidates must have reliable personal transportation and be able to travel independently between both Trenton facilities as required.
Qualifications
- Previous commercial, industrial, or manufacturing cleaning experience is an asset
- Previous general labour or manufacturing experience is an asset
- Ability to work independently and manage assigned responsibilities with limited supervision
- Strong attention to cleanliness, detail, and workplace safety
- Dependable, organized, and able to manage changing priorities
- Ability to safely use cleaning products, supplies, and equipment
- Ability to perform the physical requirements associated with cleaning and general labour duties
- Ability to work effectively within an active manufacturing environment
- Strong commitment to workplace health and safety
- Reliable personal transportation and ability to travel between both Trenton facilities during the workday
