Experienced Extrusion Operator
Position Summary
Electro Cables, a Nexans company, is growing and is currently seeking an experienced Extrusion Operator to support our wire and cable manufacturing operations in Trenton, Ontario.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience operating extrusion equipment in a manufacturing environment. Experience within the wire and cable industry is strongly preferred.
The Extrusion Operator is responsible for safely setting up, operating, and monitoring extrusion equipment, completing efficient changeovers, and ensuring finished products meet all applicable manufacturing instructions and quality specifications.
Work Location & Flexibility
Electro Cables operates two manufacturing facilities in Trenton, Ontario - Sidney Street and Riverside Drive.
While the successful candidate may initially be assigned to a specific production line, shift, or primary work location, employees may be reassigned to different production lines, departments, shifts, or plant locations based on operational requirements and at the discretion of management.
Candidates must have reliable transportation, as public transit in Trenton is limited and may not accommodate all shift schedules.

Compensation
The starting wage for this position is $22.66 per hour.
Wage progression is based on the role and department assigned, with rates ranging up to $29.69 per hour following successful completion of training and probationary requirements.
Placement into a specific machine role and the applicable wage progression will be determined based on operational needs and the successful candidate’s skills, experience, and demonstrated abilities. Not all machine roles reach the maximum rate.
Work Schedule
This position operates on a rotating shift schedule, which may include:
Shifts are generally scheduled Monday to Friday; however, flexibility is required based on operational needs.
Key Responsibilities
Set up, operate, and monitor extrusion machines and related equipment
Monitor machine controls and operating conditions throughout the production process
Perform product and material changeovers safely and efficiently
Produce wire and cable products according to manufacturing instructions and specifications
Monitor product quality and make adjustments within established operating procedures
Identify equipment or quality issues and assist with basic troubleshooting
Perform measurements using tools such as calipers and micrometers
Complete production documentation and reporting accurately
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
Comply with all health and safety policies, procedures, and regulations
Support continuous improvement and production-efficiency initiatives
Perform other duties as assigned to support operational requirements
Qualifications
Previous experience operating extrusion equipment in a manufacturing environment is required
Previous experience in wire and cable manufacturing is strongly preferred
Experience completing machine setups and product changeovers
Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort working with industrial equipment
Knowledge of measurement tools, including calipers and micrometers
Strong attention to detail, quality, and accuracy
Basic computer skills
Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Reliable, dependable, and committed to workplace health and safety
Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
