As a Technical Artist, you will operate at the intersection of art, game technology, and machine learning data. You will develop workflows that extract, organize, normalize, and validate structured assets and world information from EA content pipelines for use in research.
You will bring an end-to-end understanding of how game assets are authored, assembled, transformed, and rendered. You will partner with artists, engineers, and researchers to preserve the relationships and semantics that make extracted content useful for neural motion, world models, neural rendering, and environment or level-layout research.
This is a hybrid role, working three days per week in Redwood City, Montreal, or Vancouver.
You will report to the Lead Technical Director.
Responsibilities
- You will design and implement workflows to extract meshes, materials, textures, rigs, animation, levels, prefabs, and related metadata from game content pipelines.
- You will preserve scene hierarchy, transforms, dependencies, variants, coordinate systems, units, and other relationships required to reconstruct content correctly.
- You will extract and organize world information such as collision, navigation, cameras, lighting, environmental settings, and level composition.
- You will define representations and interchange formats that make game assets usable by machine learning and research workflows.
- You will build automated validation that confirms extracted assets and scenes maintain expected visual, structural, and technical fidelity.
- You will connect asset and world data to relevant source, build, scene, and capture metadata so researchers can understand provenance and context.
- You will identify third-party, licensed, sensitive, or otherwise restricted content and support appropriate filtering and handling.
- You will partner with infrastructure and data teams to organize extracted content within established storage and discovery systems.
- You will collaborate with researchers across neural motion, world models, neural rendering, and environment generation to turn repeated needs into reusable workflows.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of technical art, content-pipeline, tools, or related game-development experience, including experience on AAA titles
- Strong understanding of end-to-end game art and content production pipelines
- Experience with 3D asset formats, scene graphs, materials, textures, rigs, animation, level data, and coordinate-system transformations
- Experience with major engines such as Frostbite, Unreal, Unity, or proprietary technology
- Proficiency with Python or another scripting language used for content-pipeline automation
- Experience developing or extending DCC, engine, or asset-processing tools
- Experience validating visual and technical fidelity across asset conversions or pipeline stages
- Familiarity with machine learning data requirements, neural rendering, motion systems, world models, or procedural world-building is beneficial

Compensation And Benefits
The ranges listed below are what EA in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in these locations at the time of this posting. If you reside in a different location, a recruiter will advise on the applicable range and benefits. Pay offered will be determined based on a number of relevant business and candidate factors (e.g. education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, or business needs).
PAY RANGES
- British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria) *$122,300 - $170,700 CAD
Pay is just one part of the overall compensation at EA.
For Canada, we offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and other incentive programs.
