Original job description

Get started on an exciting career at Element!

Element employees make a difference in the lives of others every day. We are re-defining the fleet management industry to be people first, then business – delivering on our promise of a superior client experience. This takes hard work and innovation, and we need more like-minded people on our team.

Build reliable financial systems through modern software engineering and enterprise integration.

THE OPPORTUNITY

As a Senior Software Engineer, Finance System, you will design, develop, and maintain scalable software solutions that support Element’s enterprise financial systems and digital transformation initiatives. You will bring hands-on engineering expertise across modern and legacy platforms, helping connect applications and services, improve reliability, and support the ongoing evolution of enterprise technology.

WHAT YOU WILL OWN

Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise software applications, ensuring scalability, performance, reliability, security, and maintainability.
Define technical designs and contribute to architecture, technical roadmaps, system diagrams, and engineering standards for coding, testing, and documentation.
Build and integrate application programming interfaces (APIs), services, and data pipelines across distributed systems, including integrations with enterprise resource planning (ERP), financial systems, payment platforms, and third-party services.
Contribute to microservices and event-driven architecture, and support continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD), deployment checklists, log reviews, and DevOps practices.
Lead and contribute to production issue resolution, root cause analysis, and corrective actions, while supporting platform upgrades, modernization, cloud adoption, and technology optimization.
Collaborate with architects, engineers, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions, contribute to code reviews and testing, and support Agile planning, backlog refinement, and retrospectives.

YOU SHOULD CONSIDER THIS ROLE IF:

You combine senior-level software development experience with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to contribute across architecture, delivery, integration, and production support.

You have at least eight years of hands-on experience in software development, system design, and application integration.
You have a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
You bring experience with object-oriented programming, distributed systems, APIs, REST services or messaging, microservices, and event-driven architecture.
You have hands-on experience with modern programming languages such as Java, C#, Python, or JavaScript/TypeScript, as well as front-end technologies such as React or Angular.
You have worked with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure, containers using Docker and Kubernetes, and shell scripting.
You have experience integrating legacy systems, including mainframe applications such as COBOL, CICS, DB2, or MQ, through APIs or service layers.
You understand relational or NoSQL databases and data modelling, and have experience creating technical specifications, design documents, and interface documentation.
You have experience supporting enterprise financial systems, payment platforms, or high-volume transaction systems, and understand Agile and DevOps practices.

Preferred experience includes ERP or financial platforms such as SAP FICO or FICA; payment processing across authorization, capture, and settlement; and experience in both product development and enterprise IT environments.

YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO TELL US

Describe a software solution or system integration you designed and delivered. What technical choices did you make, and how did the solution perform?
Tell us about a complex production issue you investigated. How did you identify the root cause and prevent the issue from recurring?
Share an example of modernizing or integrating a legacy application, financial platform, or high-volume transaction system.

WHY ELEMENT

At Element Fleet Management, you can help strengthen the technology that supports enterprise financial systems and digital initiatives. You will collaborate across modern and legacy platforms to improve integration, reliability, and continuous delivery.
