Original job description

You don't need to know everything about HR. You do need to know when you don't know.

We are looking for someone who is exceptionally good at keeping things moving. You know where the file is. You remembered the deadline. You followed up. You noticed the missing signature. You fixed the document. You asked the question nobody else thought to ask.

You can also sit across from a CEO, manager or employee and have a grown-up conversation without getting flustered. Maybe you already work in HR. Maybe you're coming from client services, people operations, executive support or another role where being organized, credible and ridiculously good at follow-through is how you built your reputation.

At Elevated HR, you don't need to walk in as the HR expert. We have those.

We need someone who can own the details, build strong client relationships, learn quickly and have enough confidence to take things on, with enough humility to ask for help when something is outside their lane.

The Role

Elevated HR provides fractional HR support to organizations across Canada. Our clients come to us for everything from everyday HR operations to compensation, performance management, recruitment, leadership development, investigations, employee relations and organizational change.

Which means our days are rarely identical.

As our HR & Client Services Coordinator, you'll support a portfolio of clients alongside our senior HR consultants.

You will often be one of the people clients interact with most regularly. Your job is to know what is happening, what needs to happen next, who owes us something and when something needs to be brought to one of our more senior HR people.

What You'll Do

Client Coordination

Act as a day-to-day contact for assigned clients.
Build trusted, professional relationships with managers, leaders and employees.
Attend client meetings and keep track of actions, decisions and deadlines.
Follow up on outstanding items and keep work moving between meetings.
Coordinate multiple clients, priorities and projects at the same time.
Respond to routine questions confidently and professionally.
Recognize when a client question or situation needs senior HR involvement and bring us in early.

HR Administration & Operations

Prepare employment letters, agreements, templates and other HR documentation.
Coordinate employee onboarding and offboarding.
Maintain employee records and HRIS information.
Support benefits administration and employee changes.
Coordinate recruitment, interviews, candidate communication and offers.
Track probationary periods, leaves, performance cycles and other employee milestones.
Support employee surveys and engagement initiatives.
Assist with compensation, performance management and development projects.
Conduct HR research and organize information for senior consultants.
Build trackers, reports, presentations and client materials.
Keep client files and documentation exceptionally well organized.

HR Projects

You'll also support work involving:

Recruitment and onboarding.
Employee handbooks and policies.
Compensation and salary structures.
Performance management.
Employee surveys and eNPS.
Leadership development.
HR technology and systems.
Organizational changes.
Employee relations and workplace issues.

Sometimes you'll run with the work. Sometimes you'll support someone more senior. Knowing the difference matters.

What We'll Look for on Your Resume

Your resume does not need to scream future CHRO. We are looking for evidence that you can execute. That might include:

Approximately 3–5 years of experience in HR coordination, HR administration, people operations, client services, executive support or another highly organized role.
Experience coordinating work across multiple people, priorities or clients.
Exposure to recruitment, onboarding, employee documentation, benefits, HR systems, leaves or performance processes.
Experience with HRIS, ATS, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace or similar business systems.
Client-facing or professional services experience.
Examples of owning processes rather than only assisting with them.
Strong written communication.
Increasing responsibility over time.

And yes, we will notice whether your resume is organized, accurate and easy to follow. This is one of those jobs where that matters. After all, we tell people how to write a resume; you should know how to write a resume too. Including a cover letter that sets you apart. And yeah, if you use AI, it better be truthful - not inflated.

This is where the bigger decision gets made. We can teach you more about HR. We are much more interested in whether you have judgment.

We want to understand:

Can you have a confident conversation with a client without pretending to know something you don't?
Do you know when to research something yourself and when to ask for help?
Can you say, “Let me check that before I give you an answer” without feeling like you've failed?
Can you follow up with a busy executive three times if that's what it takes?
Do you take ownership when something gets missed?
Can you receive feedback without becoming defensive?
Can you manage a lot of moving pieces and still notice the small things?
Are you curious enough to learn and humble enough to know there is more to learn?
Can we trust your judgment with confidential and occasionally sensitive information?
Do you actually enjoy administration and making things work?
You don't need perfectly polished interview answers.
We'd rather hear how you really think.

What You Should Know About HR

You should understand the fundamentals. Ideally you have some exposure to areas such as:

Recruitment and onboarding.
Employment documentation.
HRIS and employee records.
Benefits.
Leaves.
Performance management.
Employment standards.
Confidential employee information.

You will not be expected to independently advise clients on complex terminations, investigations, accommodations, employment law, executive compensation or significant employee relations matters. But...you will absolutely be exposed to those things.

You'll have experienced HR professionals around you to help you learn how to handle them well.
