About Elevation Outdoors

Elevation Outdoors is a Kelowna-based nonprofit organization dedicated to removing barriers to outdoor recreation for youth. Through accessible programming, equipment support initiatives, and community fundraising events, we create meaningful opportunities for young people to build confidence, skills, and connection. As our fundraising activities continue to grow, we are creating a Development & Fundraising Assistant role to strengthen internal capacity and support the delivery of our fundraising initiatives.

Role Summary

The Development & Fundraising Assistant provides operational and administrative support across grants, fundraising events, donor relations, volunteer coordination, social media marketing, and database management. This role is designed to reduce administrative workload for senior staff while supporting the successful execution and promotion of fundraising campaigns and events. Over time, the role may grow in responsibility based on skills and organizational needs.This is a hands-on, capacity-building position suited to someone early in their nonprofit or fundraising career.

Key Responsibilities

Grant & Funding Support

Conduct research on grant and foundation opportunities aligned with organizational priorities.
Assist with drafting grant applications and supporting documentation.
Maintain grant tracking systems, deadlines, and reporting requirements.
Support grant reporting as required.

Fundraising Events & Campaigns

Assist in planning and executing annual fundraising events and campaigns.
Administer online ticketing platforms for special event fundraisers.
Support day-of event logistics as part of the core event team.
Organize, track, and maintain raffle and silent auction item databases.
Assist in cultivating and collecting raffle and silent auction items.
Coordinate requests for in-kind donations from community partners.

Event Marketing & Social Media Support

Support social media marketing for fundraising campaigns and events.
Assist in the development and creation of promotional assets (graphics, captions, event content) using Canva or similar tools.
Schedule and publish social media posts across platforms.
Monitor social media accounts and respond to event-related inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
Coordinate messaging and timelines with the Fund Development Manager.

Volunteer Coordination

Assist with recruitment, scheduling, training, and recognition of volunteers for fundraising events.
Coordinate volunteer scheduling and manage communications, confirmations, and materials.
Support volunteer systems and respond to inquiries.

Donor Relations & Administrative Support

Communicate with donors and supporters to build and maintain relationships.
Prepare fundraising materials including donor correspondence, thank-you letters, presentations, and campaign materials.
Maintain comprehensive and accurate records in Keela.
Track fundraising activity and assist with reporting.
Serve as a professional point of contact for fundraising-related phone and email inquiries.
Provide administrative support across all fundraising initiatives.

Skills & Qualifications

Previous experience working in a nonprofit environment and with volunteers.
Experience in fundraising, event planning, communications, or a related field preferred.
Strong organizational and administrative skills with exceptional attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Professional and outgoing manner with the ability to interact tactfully and diplomatically with a wide range of stakeholders.
Demonstrated comfort communicating and connecting with external donors and community partners.
Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a small team.
Experience with donor databases (e.g., Keela) and data entry.
Experience supporting social media marketing, including scheduling posts and responding to inquiries, and content creation .
Basic graphic design or content creation experience (e.g., Canva or similar platforms) preferred.

Additional Requirements

Clean criminal record check.
Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License.
Flexibility to work occasional early mornings, evenings, and weekends to support fundraising events.
