Elk Island Public Schools is recruiting a temporary part-time Noon Supervisor (1 hour per day) at Pine Street Elementary.
Pine Street Elementary serves approximately 370 students in kindergarten to Grade 6, with 20 teaching staff and 26 support staff. The school is located in Sherwood Park, AB.
Pine Street Elementary strives to provide a safe and caring school community built upon meaningful relationships. The school is committed to providing quality learning opportunities where students achieve academic excellence as self-directed, lifelong learners and develop into responsible global citizens. Pine Street Elementary is also a designated Play And Learn at School (PALS) pre-kindergarten site within the Division.
Noon Hour Supervisors' main responsibility is to provide supervision to children during the lunch hour under the direction of the Principal/Assistant Principal.

- Commencing August 31, 2026
- Ending June 28, 2027
- Schedule will be one (1) hour each day, five (5) hours per week, Monday to Friday
- Being available on short notice would be an asset
Supervision During Eating Time:
- Greet students in lunchroom when lunch hour starts
- Watch students in different classrooms while they eat
- Help monitor behaviour and encourage positive interaction between students
- Encourage students to follow classroom lunch rules and handle minor infractions
- Make sure students dispose of garbage in receptacles
- Ensure that all students have gone outside within a reasonable time
- Supervise and ensure student safety within an assigned area of the playground
- Carry the first aid fanny-pack at all times and administers minor first aid
- Deal with minor behaviour problems and refer serious behaviour problems to the principal or assistant principal
- Training will be provided
- First Aid is an asset
- Behaviour Management training is an asset
- Experience working in or volunteering in a school setting is an asset
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Enjoy working with students
- A good sense of humour
- Good health and physical fitness
- The ability to take direction and work independently
- Flexibility, patience, sensitivity, tolerance, enthusiasm, creativity and imagination
- The ability to deal with the emotional and mental stress of working with large groups of children who are sometimes active and demanding

Responsibilities
Supervise students during lunch, including monitoring behaviour, encouraging positive interactions, reinforcing lunch rules, and ensuring students dispose of garbage properly. Supervise students during outdoor play, promote their safety, administer minor first aid, and refer serious behaviour issues to the principal or assistant principal.
Requirements
No specific education or prior experience is required, and training will be provided. First Aid, behaviour management training, and experience working or volunteering in a school are assets; candidates should enjoy working with students, be physically fit, follow direction, work independently, and handle the demands of supervising large groups of children.
