Experience: 2-4 years of experience in a DevOps, SRE (Site Reliability Engineer), platform, or infrastructure engineering role
Posting language: English

Original job description

We are a public safety software company based in Montreal, Canada, with a particular focus on Computer Aided Dispatch and 911 technology. Our close knit and highly experience team has decades of experience working together designing, building, and supporting technology solutions for emergency communication centers and first responders. Today we work with customers in the USA, Canada, South America, and around the globe, with deployments that range in size from four position dispatch centers to country-wide implementations with hundreds of dispatch positions.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We're looking for a DevOps Engineer to help build and run the infrastructure our engineering teams ship on. Working under the DevOps & Cloud Infrastructure Lead, you'll build CI/CD pipelines, manage cloud infrastructure across Azure and AWS, and keep the monitoring in place that catches problems before they become incidents.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines that engineering teams deploy through daily
Implement and maintain infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, ARM/Bicep) for resources across Azure and AWS
Set up and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting across services and infrastructure
Handle deployments and participate in an on-call rotation for incident response
Help harden infrastructure security - apply patches, rotate secrets, and follow least-privilege access practices
Troubleshoot infrastructure and deployment issues across dev, staging, and production environments
Write and maintain documentation and runbooks so on-call and teammates can follow your work
Partner with the DevOps & Cloud Infrastructure Lead and engineering teams to improve deployment speed and reliability

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

2-4 years of experience in a DevOps, SRE (Site Reliability Engineer), platform, or infrastructure engineering role
Practical experience with at least one major cloud provider (Azure or AWS); exposure to both is a plus
Experience with infrastructure-as-code tooling (Terraform, ARM/Bicep, CloudFormation, or similar)
Comfortable with CI/CD tooling (e.g., GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitLab CI)
Working knowledge of networking fundamentals (DNS, load balancing, VPCs/VNets)
Scripting ability (e.g., Bash, Python, or PowerShell) for automation
Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation

Nice To Have

Experience with containers and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, Swarm)
Exposure to security practices like vulnerability scanning or secrets management
Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, Azure Administrator Associate)

WHY EMERES?

Competitive salary and performance-based bonuses
A collaborative and innovative team environment
Professional development opportunities
A unique, exciting and dynamic culture with the public safety sector
Comprehensive health and dental benefits

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Background Screening & Security Requirements

Due to the nature of our work supporting public safety and government agencies, employment is contingent upon successfully completing all required pre-employment screening processes. These may include employment verification, education verification, criminal history checks, and other legally permissible background investigations.

In addition, employees may be required to obtain and maintain eligibility to access customer systems, facilities, and information. This may include fingerprint-based background checks, compliance with Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy or similar requirements, and additional customer-specific screening, credentialing, security clearance, or drug-testing requirements. The ability to successfully satisfy and maintain these requirements is a condition of employment with EMERES.

Equal Opportunity Employer

EMERES is an Equal Opportunity Employer and is committed to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and respectful workplace. We make employment decisions based on qualifications, merit, business needs, and individual performance.
