Job details

Job type: Full-time
Apply by: Apr 5, 2027
Experience: 5+ years of experience in software quality engineering, QA leadership, or a related discipline
Posting language: English

Original job description

We are a public safety software company based in Montreal, Canada, with a particular focus on Computer Aided Dispatch and 911 technology. Our close knit and highly experience team has decades of experience working together designing, building, and supporting technology solutions for emergency communication centers and first responders. Today we work with customers in the USA, Canada, South America, and around the globe, with deployments that range in size from four position dispatch centers to country-wide implementations with hundreds of dispatch positions.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We're looking for a Quality & Process Lead to own quality strategy and engineering process across our teams. You'll bring in the tooling (like SonarQube), set the standards, and track the metrics that tell us whether we're actually improving - while working closely with every engineering team to make quality part of how we ship, not a gate at the end.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Define and drive quality strategy across all engineering teams
Select, implement, and maintain quality tooling such as SonarQube, linters, and CI quality gates
Define and enforce code review standards and coding guidelines
Drive test automation strategy and coverage across teams
Track and report quality metrics - code coverage, defect rates, and technical debt - to engineering leadership
Partner with Engineering Managers and the Technical Program Manager to build quality checkpoints into sprint and release planning
Lead and grow the QA engineering function, including QA Engineers/SDETs (Software Development Engineer in Test).
Continuously evaluate and improve engineering processes to raise quality without slowing teams down

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

5+ years of experience in software quality engineering, QA leadership, or a related discipline
Hands-on experience implementing static analysis / code quality tools (e.g., SonarQube) and CI quality gates
Strong background in test automation frameworks and strategy
Experience defining and driving engineering process improvements across multiple teams
Able to balance quality rigor with delivery speed, and to influence teams you don't directly manage

Nice To Have

ISTQB (International Software Testing Qualifications Board) or similar quality/testing certification
Experience with performance/load testing and security testing
Background as a hands-on QA engineer or SDET before moving into a lead role

WHY EMERES?

Competitive salary and performance-based bonuses
A collaborative and innovative team environment
Professional development opportunities
A unique, exciting and dynamic culture with the public safety sector
Comprehensive health and dental benefits

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Background Screening & Security Requirements

Due to the nature of our work supporting public safety and government agencies, employment is contingent upon successfully completing all required pre-employment screening processes. These may include employment verification, education verification, criminal history checks, and other legally permissible background investigations.

In addition, employees may be required to obtain and maintain eligibility to access customer systems, facilities, and information. This may include fingerprint-based background checks, compliance with Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy or similar requirements, and additional customer-specific screening, credentialing, security clearance, or drug-testing requirements. The ability to successfully satisfy and maintain these requirements is a condition of employment with EMERES.

Equal Opportunity Employer

EMERES is an Equal Opportunity Employer and is committed to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and respectful workplace. We make employment decisions based on qualifications, merit, business needs, and individual performance. EMERES does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, creed, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, ancestry, age, disability, genetic information, veteran status, military status, marital status, citizenship status, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law.

Accommodation Request

EMERES is committed to providing reasonable accommodations to qualified applicants and employees. Individuals requiring accommodation during the application or interview process are encouraged to notify us.
