Original job description

Archived listing. The details below describe a past opening.

We are a public safety software company based in Montreal, Canada, with a particular focus on Computer Aided Dispatch and 911 technology. Our close knit and highly experience team has decades of experience working together designing, building, and supporting technology solutions for emergency communication centers and first responders. Today we work with customers in the USA, Canada, South America, and around the globe, with deployments that range in size from four position dispatch centers to country-wide implementations with hundreds of dispatch positions.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We're looking for a Technical Program Manager to be the connective tissue between Product Management and Engineering. You'll turn requirements into a plan the engineering org can execute against, run sprint and release planning across multiple teams, and make sure cross-team dependencies get caught and resolved before they become delivery risk. You are the person in the room who knows what's shipping, when, and what's in the way.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Partner closely with Product Management to understand requirements and translate them into well-scoped Jira epics and stories
  • Plan and facilitate sprint planning, backlog refinement, and release scheduling across multiple engineering teams
  • Track cross-team dependencies, risks, and blockers, and drive them to resolution
  • Own the release management process end to end - scheduling, coordination, go/no-go decisions, and post-release retrospectives
  • Maintain Jira as the single source of truth for engineering work, including boards, workflows, and sprint/release reporting
  • Report delivery status, risks, and timelines clearly to engineering leadership and Product stakeholders
  • Spot recurring process bottlenecks across teams and drive improvements to how the org plans and ships
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
  • 4+ years in a technical program management, scrum master, or release management role in a software organization
  • Hands-on expertise with Jira - workflows, boards, automation, and reporting; Jira administration experience is a strong plus
  • Proven experience coordinating delivery across multiple engineering teams at the same time
  • Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle and agile/scrum methodologies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; equally comfortable with engineers and with Product Management
  • Able to manage several moving sprints and releases at once without losing track of the details

Nice To Have

  • Certification such as CSM, PMP, or SAFe
  • Prior experience as a software engineer or QA engineer
  • Experience with release automation tooling or CI/CD pipelines
WHY EMERES?
  • Competitive salary and performance-based bonuses
  • A collaborative and innovative team environment
  • Professional development opportunities
  • A unique, exciting and dynamic culture with the public safety sector
  • Comprehensive health and dental benefits
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Background Screening & Security Requirements

Due to the nature of our work supporting public safety and government agencies, employment is contingent upon successfully completing all required pre-employment screening processes. These may include employment verification, education verification, criminal history checks, and other legally permissible background investigations.

In addition, employees may be required to obtain and maintain eligibility to access customer systems, facilities, and information. This may include fingerprint-based background checks, compliance with Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy or similar requirements, and additional customer-specific screening, credentialing, security clearance, or drug-testing requirements. The ability to successfully satisfy and maintain these requirements is a condition of employment with EMERES.
