Original job description

Division: Emil Anderson Construction

Department: EAC

About Emil Anderson Construction

Emil Anderson Construction (EAC) is a civil construction leader with a proud legacy of excellence and innovation. Headquartered in Kelowna, British Columbia, we deliver projects across the province, specializing in roadbuilding, highway paving, and a broad range of complex civil infrastructure.

For more than 85 years, EAC has earned a reputation for providing high-quality, value-driven solutions. Our collaborative approach brings owners, partners, and stakeholders together to design and execute projects that stand the test of time.

We take pride in our people, our work, and our contribution to the infrastructure that connects and strengthens communities across British Columbia. Supported by regional offices, equipment yards, and maintenance facilities in Kelowna, Hope, and Chilliwack, we are positioned to serve communities throughout the province.

Our success is rooted in our Core Values: Safety, Leadership, Improvement, Commitment, and Excellence. Joining our team means working on landmark projects, learning from industry leaders, and advancing your career in a supportive, safety-focused culture.

The Opportunity

We’re seeking an Estimator with a background in civil construction and/or engineering who is ready to deliver accurate, competitive bids. With a diverse fleet of equipment, a supportive team, and opportunities for professional growth, you’ll play a valuable role in projects that make a difference in communities we work and live in.

As an Estimator, you’ll lead quantity takeoffs, pricing, and bid preparation for civil infrastructure work - reviewing drawings and specifications, analyzing subcontractor and supplier quotes, and assembling complete proposals. You’ll collaborate with operations to validate production rates, means and methods, and schedules, ensuring estimates align with safety, quality, and project requirements. Ideal candidates are detail oriented, deadline driven, and effective in a fast paced, team-based environment.

This role is based out of Kelowna, with the possibility of travel to out-of-town projects on a rotational schedule. If you are positive, people-oriented, and eager to grow in the civil construction industry, this could be the role for you!

Your Key Responsibilities

Assist in creating estimates for Civil and Heavy Civil projects under the guidance of the Senior Estimating Leadership.
Help / lead review and develop scopes of work for subcontractors.
Assist in producing detailed material take-offs.
Support the production of high-level project schedules.
Help review project documents to confirm complete bid packages.
Assist in producing bid packages for subcontractors and suppliers.
Assist with maintaining current labour, equipment, and material resource rates.
Assist in producing detailed bid analysis of subtrade quotes.
Support the review of projects for cost savings and materials alternate opportunities.
Monitoring Procurement platforms daily for suitable tender opportunities to the Pre-construction Manager
Assist in reviewing public bid sites for bid opportunities.
Attend site visits as required.
Perform other duties assigned by management.

Your Qualifications & Skills

3+ years’ experience in construction estimating within the civil and heavy civil sectors.
Ideal candidate has relevant construction field experience to compliment their abilities as an estimator.
Strong analytical skills with attention to details.
Knowledgeable in construction work site sequences.
Knowledgeable in project management.
Proficient in using estimating software (e.g. B2W Estimate (or equivalent), Bluebeam, etc.) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent organizational, technical and time management skills.
Familiarity with procurement platforms (e.g. BCBid, Bids and Tenders, Bonfire, etc.)
A degree or diploma in construction management, engineering, or a related field is preferred
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving abstract.

What We Offer

The chance to be part of landmark projects that shape communities across British Columbia, while building your career with a company that’s been trusted for over 85 years. As part of the Emil Anderson Group of companies, you’ll join a culture where people are more than employees – they’re contributors, owners, and leaders. Here, you’ll have opportunities to learn from industry experts, grow your skills, and make a lasting impact across a diverse range of projects.

Competitive salary range.
Opportunity to participate in ShareCo, our employee ownership program.
Comprehensive benefits package.
RRSP matching program.
Training and career development opportunities.
Annual safety recognition and employee appreciation programs.

ShareCo

For four generations, Emil Anderson Group has thrived as a successful, family-owned and operated company. In 2024, we expanded that legacy by launching ShareCo – our Employee Ownership Program, giving eligible team members the opportunity to become owners in EAG and share directly in the company’s performance and growth.

This ownership model deepens our culture of collaboration, accountability, and shared success. When you contribute ideas, drive innovation, or deliver exceptional results, you’re not just helping to build great projects - you’re helping to build your own financial future.

Safety & Compliance

Safety is our highest priority. All employees are expected to work in compliance with company safety policies and WorkSafeBC regulations, wear appropriate PPE, and participate in toolbox talks and safety training, where applicable.
