Job Summary
Responsible for operating recycling collection vehicles across Northern Ontario, safely collecting recyclable materials, completing assigned routes efficiently, and providing excellent customer service. This position services multiple collection areas throughout the region, including communities between Sault Ste. Marie, Wawa, Timmins, Thunder Bay, Kenora, and Red Lake. Overnight travel is required as part of regular route operations. Drivers are responsible for completing pre- and post-trip inspections and ensuring compliance with all safety and company policies.
Position Description
- Operate recycling collection vehicles in a safe and professional manner;
- Collect and transport recyclable materials from assigned customer locations;
- Service multiple collection routes and municipalities across Northern Ontario;
- Travel throughout designated service areas, including overnight stays as required;
- Observe all company safety policies and safe work practices;
- Provide excellent customer service in accordance with company policies;
- Ensure assigned routes are successfully completed in a timely and safe manner;
- Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections and complete Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs);
- Maintain accurate route documentation and communicate effectively with operations teams.
Skills & Qualifications
- Valid Ontario DZ driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract and CVOR;
- Minimum one-year experience driving with a DZ license OR AZ graduate from an accredited driving school;
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs;
- Ability and willingness to travel extensively throughout Northern Ontario;
- Flexibility to work a rotating schedule averaging four days per week, with occasional five-day work weeks based on operational requirements;
- Comfortable working independently and staying overnight away from home as required;
- Strong time management and organizational skills;
- Knowledge of Northern Ontario roadways and driving conditions is considered an asset;
- Able to successfully pass all required pre-employment screenings;
- Punctual, reliable, and a team player.
Work Schedule & Travel Requirements
- Rotating schedule averaging 4 days per week, with occasional 5-day work weeks;
- Routes service multiple Northern Ontario communities;
- Overnight travel is required on a regular basis, including up to two overnight stays per week;
- Travel may include service areas between Sault Ste. Marie, Wawa, Timmins, Thunder Bay, Kenora, Red Lake, and surrounding communities;
- Company vehicle and travel accommodations provided as required
