Gazifère, a dynamic and rapidly growing company and the exclusive natural gas distributor in the Outaouais region, is seeking a Financial Advisor.

The primary purpose of this role is to provide independent financial analysis, guidance, and support to business partners and leadership. The Finance Advisor applies a strong understanding of financial and accounting principles to assess business performance, support decision-making, and ensure the integrity of financial information. The role requires an appreciation of the broader business environment and the interdependencies between financial activities and operational outcomes. Through insightful analysis, effective collaboration, and sound judgment, the incumbent contributes to achieving organizational objectives, optimizing financial performance, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

What you will do

Manages the schedule and activities related to the external audit with the support of the finance team in order to provide respond and supporting documentation on a timely basis the auditors’ requests.
Provides front-line leadership for the production and delivery of monthly financial statements.
Participates in the month-end process by authorizing certain journal entries and conciliations.
Ensures that accounting policies and procedures are followed by playing a critical role in financial and variance analysis.
Participates in the development and improvement of internal and external reports while ensuring reports are relevant and while including accurate variance explanations; acts as expert in the preparation of financial analysis and reporting.
Implements tools and procedures to analyze financial results and prepare various reports.
Participates in the development and improvement of internal controls.
Implements any changes to the financial statements resulting from external audit.
Provides support to the finance team by identifying continuous improvements at the process level, and offering advice on financial elements such as taxes, pensions and other more complex accounting areas.
Participates, if needed, in various corporate projects requiring the support of financial functions and works with each of the company's departments to facilitate follow-up and explanations of financial results.
Support the Business Financial analyst in building, reviewing and maintaining comprehensive financial models for new projects and business development initiatives Evaluate whether new projects and business development initiatives align with the overall Corporate Strategy. Provide guidance to Business Unit project development and Corporate support (Tax, Treasury, Financial Risk, Credit, Corporate Controllers) teams on Investment Review practices and the capital allocation approval processes.

Who You Are:

Professional accounting designation/certification required combined with 4 or more years of relevant experience;
The person in this role must be fluent in French (speaking, reading, writing). As the person in this role is required to frequently interact with colleagues, stakeholders and clients that do not speak French, a proficient knowledge of English (speaking, reading, writing) is also required.;
Knowledge and understanding of accounting practices (U.S. GAAP, an asset);
Excellent organizational and time management skills;
Excellent analytical, synthesis and writing skills;
Rigorous and attentive to detail;
Ability to assimilate and apply complex theoretical concepts;
Excellent knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite with strong Excel skills;
Knowledge of Oracle is considered an asset;
Knowledge and experience in taxation are considered an asset;
Knowledge of the natural gas industry and the regulatory regime in Québec is considered an asset.
