Original job description

Enedym

About Enedym

Enedym is a spin-out company from McMaster University focused on developing next-generation electric motor and propulsion technologies. We specialize in innovative switched reluctance motor (SRM) solutions, aiming to revolutionize energy systems for a cleaner, more efficient future. Join our dynamic team in Hamilton to help drive meaningful change toward sustainability in transportation and energy.

Role Overview

We are seeking a tech-savvy and curious Full-Stack Developer (Student / Co-op) to join our software team. In this role, you will work across a variety of business tools, internal systems, and cloud-based applications supporting our engineers, data scientists, and business operations.

Our team operates with high autonomy and embraces cutting-edge development paradigms, including heavy use of agentic engineering to develop a mixture of traditional software and agent-enabled software systems. If you thrive on taking ideas from conception to deployment and want to gain hands-on experience with modern cloud architectures, this role is for you.

Key Responsibilities

End-to-End Ownership: Take features and business tools from initial conception through prototyping, testing, and cloud deployment.
Hybrid Systems Development: Build, test, and maintain both traditional software microservices and agent-enabled software workflows.
Business & Internal Tooling: Develop, enhance, and maintain a variety of web applications and internal tools designed to streamline engineering, manufacturing, and business functions.
Rapid Prototyping: Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team to build and test new features quickly based on user and business feedback.
Code & Documentation Quality: Write modular, reusable code and maintain clear documentation for system implementations and processes.

Technical & Design Stack

Core Languages & Frameworks

Languages: Python, Golang, and TypeScript.
Front-End: Vue.js for building responsive and intuitive user interfaces.

Architecture & Infrastructure

Cloud & Hosting: Serverless architectures and containerized environments (Docker).
Database & Cloud: Basic understanding of SQL, NoSQL, or cloud-managed databases (e.g., AWS, GCP).
DevOps & Version Control: Familiarity with Git version control and modern CI/CD practices.

Engineering Methodologies

Agentic Engineering: Exposure to or interest in leveraging AI agents, automated tool workflows, and LLM integration within application architecture.

Design & Prototyping

Familiarity with basic UI/UX design principles to build user-friendly interfaces.
Experience or interest in using prototyping and design/internal tool builders (e.g., Figma, Draw.io, Retool).

What We Look For

We understand that student applicants may not have extensive experience in every single language or framework listed above. Above all, we value:

Adaptability & Curiosity: A strong appetite for learning new languages (Golang, Python, TypeScript) and modern software paradigms quickly.
Problem-Solving Ability: The capacity to tackle ambiguous problems with high autonomy and deliver practical solutions.
Collaborative Mindset: A desire to work closely with engineers, data scientists, and business leaders to build meaningful tools.

If you find this role exciting and are eager to contribute to sustainable tech, we encourage you to apply!
