Role: Junior UX Designer Intern
Status: Full-time (1-year contract)
Department: IT - Development and Business Analysis
Location: Hybrid - Markham 4 days in office
Compensation: $23/hourly
Summary
This role is a hands-on, execution-focused UI/UX designer embedded within the product team. The individual is responsible for translating requirements and workflows into clear, intuitive, and build-ready designs. They should be strong in core design fundamentals, including user flows, wireframing, and high-fidelity UI, and comfortable working at pace within an agile environment. The role operates within established design patterns and guidance from the Senior UX Designer, with success measured by the ability to collaborate closely, iterate quickly, and deliver practical, user-friendly solutions without overengineering.
Requirements
- Strong UI/UX fundamentals with the ability to design clear, intuitive user experiences
- Experience creating user flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity designs in Figma (components, auto-layout, prototyping)
- Ability to translate business requirements and workflows into practical, build-ready designs
- Hands-on contributor comfortable working within an agile team (sprint ceremonies, working ahead of dev)
- Experience with mobile app design
- Strong collaboration skills with Product, Engineering, and stakeholders
- Understanding of usability, accessibility, and modern UI patterns
- Comfortable iterating quickly and balancing speed with quality
Nice to Have
- Exposure to design systems (working within established components and standards)
- Familiarity with AI-assisted design tools for prototyping and exploration
- Experience working on operational or service-based workflows (not just marketing sites)
- Basic usability testing or feedback incorporation
Experience
- At-least 6months+ experience in UX design (as Co-Op or equivalent assignment)
