Energy Network Services Inc. (ENS) is Canada’s leading provider of connected energy solutions, with full national service coverage across 14 locations. ENS supports a growing range of efficiency initiatives - including commercial lighting & controls retrofits, EV charging deployments (EVSE), and battery energy storage systems (BESS). Through our integrated project management model, ENS delivers turnkey solutions that help organizations reduce energy consumption, lower operational costs, and achieve net‑zero and sustainability goals.

Job Summary

We are seeking a Master Electrician/Electrical Estimator specializing in commercial, industrial, and institutional (ICI) energy efficiency projects. In this role, you will leverage your technical expertise to deliver accurate quantity take-offs, vendor cost analyses, and competitive bid packages. The ideal candidate blends field-level electrical knowledge with digital estimating proficiency to support our nationwide sustainability and retrofit initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough technical reviews of engineering specifications, single-line diagrams, and architectural drawings to develop accurate material take-offs and detailed Bills of Materials (BOM).
  • Coordinate competitive price packages with suppliers, manufacturers, electrical distributors, subcontractors, and designers to ensure alignment with project scope.
  • Identify opportunities for value engineering, specifically substituting comparable, cost-effective lighting fixtures and smart lighting control systems.
  • Prepare comprehensive, winning proposals by organizing all material, equipment, labor, and subcontract costs needed to complete turnkey energy projects.
  • Review preliminary estimates with Project Managers; attend kick-off meetings to transition successful bids to the project execution phase.
  • Attend site visits and walkthroughs, critically analyzing tender documents for unclear technical items, and drafting Requests for Information (RFIs).
  • Overlook a crew of 1-3 electricians and apprentices on site performing lighting upgrades as required
  • Maintain and analyze historical estimating data, track pipeline bids, and regularly communicate pipeline updates with the leadership team.
  • Assist with technical inputs for business development and new customer generation as required.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Must hold a 309A Master Electrician (Construction & Maintenance License)
  • Degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) is preferred
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in electrical estimating, with a strong preference for candidates who also possess 2+ years of hands-on field installation experience.
  • 5 years in a foreman capacity position
  • Proven experience estimating Industrial, Commercial, and Institutional (ICI) electrical projects. Experience with powerline electrical or utility projects is a strong asset.
  • Highly proficient with digital takeoff software (Bluebeam Revu, Accubid, or equivalent) and advanced Microsoft Excel for data analysis.
  • Deep understanding of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and local building/electrical utility standards.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple estimates simultaneously, respect aggressive tender deadlines, and adapt to shifting priorities.
  • Highly organized, detail orientated, and an ability to multi task
  • Demonstrated ability to follow strict occupational health and safety protocols and assess potential safety issues during site walks.
  • Ability to work flexibly both on the road (site visits) and in the office.

Why Join ENS?

  • Join a trusted industry leader known for innovation, technical expertise, and reliability in the green energy sector.
  • Contribute directly to a high-growth industry that supports carbon reduction, energy efficiency, and sustainability across Canada.
  • Work alongside a collaborative, nationwide team dedicated to quality, client success, and continuous improvement.
