Role Description The RPBio role at ENKON Environmental Limited is a full-time, hybrid position based in Surrey, BC, with flexibility for some work-from-home arrangements. The RPBio will conduct field and desktop biological assessments, including habitat and ecological inventories, species at risk evaluations, and impact assessments for a variety of development and resource projects. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing technical reports, supporting environmental assessment documentation, contributing to permit applications, and reviewing project designs for environmental compliance and best practices. The role involves collaborating with multidisciplinary project teams, engaging with regulatory agencies, and supporting clients through approval processes. The RPBio will also participate in project planning, data analysis, and recommendations for mitigation and monitoring programs.
Qualifications
- Professional biological credentials, such as Registered Professional Biologist (RPBio) designation or eligibility for registration, and a degree in biology, ecology, environmental science, or a related discipline.
- Experience in terrestrial and/or aquatic ecology, including field surveys, habitat assessments, species identification, and data collection in varied weather and terrain conditions.
- Knowledge of BC and Canadian environmental legislation and regulatory frameworks, including environmental assessment processes, permitting requirements, and compliance with provincial and federal guidelines.
- Strong technical writing and editing abilities for preparing clear, defensible reports, environmental assessments, and permitting documentation.
- Analytical and research skills for interpreting environmental data, assessing project impacts, and developing practical mitigation and monitoring recommendations.
- Proficiency with common office and data tools (e.g., Microsoft Office, GIS or mapping applications) and the ability to learn project-specific software as needed.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with clients, regulators, Indigenous communities, and multidisciplinary teams in both office and field settings.
- Organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple projects, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities in a consulting environment.
