This role involves supporting the electrical construction, maintenance, repair or testing on energized and de-energized power lines. The successful candidate will be an integral part of the team, working in a dynamic and supportive environment.

Responsibilities:

Adhere to the Province of Alberta, ENMAX Corporation, A.E.U.C. (Alberta Electrical Utility Code) and Occupational Health and Safety rules and regulations
Ensure proper care and use of vehicles, equipment, and work sites
Familiar with confined and restricted space work requirements
As a Journeyperson Powerline Technician (PLT) you will under direct supervision, perform activities related to the electrical construction, maintenance, repair or testing on energized and de-energized power lines, as required up to system voltage limits
Have skills in live line technique using rubber gloves on voltages up to, and including 25kv
Perform underground splicing, terminating and cable pulling
Recognize, assess and control potentially hazardous situations in the work environment
Function effectively as an integral part of a work group
Work safely in all conditions and possess knowledge of Industry standard safe working practices
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Experience:

Must meet ENMAX Corporation’s requirements as to qualifications and/or must be qualified under the Apprenticeship and Industry Training Act with respect to the related electrical trade

Must have a proven safety record and thorough knowledge of Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Safe Work Practices (SWPs)
Must have a valid Province of Alberta driver’s license, upgrade as required
Qualified as Journeyperson Powerline Technician (PLT) and be willing and able to obtain an interprovincial equivalency
General knowledge of the principals involved in the construction and maintenance of underground cable installations
Experience in rubber glove live line work (Preference will be given to applicants with 25kv rubber glove experience as well as underground splicing and terminating)
Knowledge of the Electrical and Communications Utility Systems (E.C.U.C.- Safety Codes Act) and Occupational Health and Safety rules and regulations as they pertain to the trade
Knowledge of Industry standard safe working practices
Willing to assist and train apprentices
Ensures proper care and use of vehicles, equipment, and the worksite under your direction
Work comfortably in underground confined space environments and adverse climate conditions
Able to communicate effectively to address customer concerns in a professional manner
Has had exposure to high stress situations and the ability to manage stress effectively
Possess a valid Provincial Class 5 driver’s license and the ability to obtain a Province of Alberta Class 1 driver’s license is essential
Working knowledge of MS Windows, MS Office
Must be willing to upgrade qualifications as required

Salary: $68.75 per hour (2026 IBEW Collective Agreement rate)

Location: South Service Centre at 8820 – 52 Street SE, Calgary, AB

Shift: Regular Days: 7:00 am – 4:00 pm. Shift may be changed to meet operational needs.

Responsibilities

Under direct supervision, construct, maintain, repair, and test energized and de-energized power lines, including live-line work up to 25 kV and underground cable splicing, terminating, and pulling. Follow applicable safety rules, manage hazards, care for vehicles and equipment, work effectively with the crew, and assist with training apprentices.

Requirements

Applicants must be qualified as a Journeyperson Powerline Technician and have a strong safety record, knowledge of applicable utility and occupational safety requirements, and experience with rubber-glove live-line work; 25 kV and underground cable experience are preferred.
