Original job description

At Ensemble, we build innovative custom software solutions for some of the largest brands in the media and entertainment, financial services, insurance, government, life sciences, and manufacturing industries. We're proud of what we do, and we know that our incredible team is the secret to our success.

Ensemble is currently looking for an individual who is eager to tackle and lead in all facets of accounting in the role of Controller.

Salary Range: $100,000 - $150,000 CAD per year

The Controller role is perfect for you if you:

Are detail-oriented, organized, and able to multitask.
Are a team player, yet able to execute independently with minimal oversight.
Have strong communication skills, both written and oral.
Are flexible, with a “can-do” attitude and the ability to own initiatives from concept to completion.
Have a minimum of five years full-cycle accounting experience.
Have a Chartered Professional Accountant Certification, or equivalent.

Responsibilities:

Perform month-end procedures, such as billing, account reconciliations, and statutory reporting (GST/PST/EHT/Worksafe).
Interface with clients around billing and invoice related activities.
Prepare and make bank deposits as needed.
Prepare payroll.
Process vendor invoices and expense reports.
Prepare year-end documents and assist external accountant as needed to prepare corporate tax return.
Verify and reconcile timesheets with both internal and customer time tracking systems.
Work with the executive management team to provide financial information on as needed basis.

Along with a keen desire to succeed, we are searching for an individual who enjoys working in a collaborative environment. If you have excellent communication and time management skills, paired with a winning attitude and an unparalleled work ethic, then you would be a good fit for Ensemble - and we want to hear from you.

Life at Ensemble:

We support a healthy work/life balance for our employees, but we know that's easier said than done. So, in addition to a comprehensive benefits plan we also offer:

Hybrid remote work, with the option to drop-in and work at our office in Vancouver,
Team lunches to celebrate project milestones,
Gaming, activity, and movie nights,
Lunch & Learns on various topics,
Summer family barbecue & winter holiday party,
Access to the Ensemble farm in Richmond, BC which includes:
Meeting and office space for drop-in work,
Vegetable harvest to take home,
Barbecue, picnic tables, and kitchen amenities.

A bit more about us:

Since 1995, Ensemble has been providing custom technology solutions to our customers, with the goal of helping them deliver incredible digital experiences to their customers. We have built such strong relationships with our customers over the years that the majority of our business now comes from repeat business and referrals - and we couldn't be happier about that.

Regardless of who we work with, or what we are working on, our success relies on three important factors: our customers, our people, and our process.

With teams in Europe and North America, Ensemble operates on a global scale providing solutions and support to some of the largest brands around the world.
