About the Role
EnStream is scaling, and technology is at the heart of how we deliver trust at scale. We’re looking for a hands-on, architect-grade technology leader to own and elevate our engineering organization across application development, security and infrastructure, and data & AI.
As VP of Technology, you’ll set our engineering and architecture strategy, raise the bar on how we build, and grow a talented team of engineers and technical leaders. This is a player-coach role: you’ll set direction and stay close enough to the work to make the hard architectural calls, review designs, and unblock your teams.
Data & AI is central to our future, and scaling it is a headline priority of this role. You’ll bring genuine AI fluency and conviction: the judgment to set strategy, attract and develop strong AI talent, and decide where to make our biggest technology bets. As we grow, this role is foundational to how we build and lead technology across the company.
What You'll Do
Technology Strategy & Architecture
- Own EnStream’s engineering and technology strategy across application, platform, and data & AI, translating business goals into a coherent technical roadmap.
- Act as the senior technical authority across the engineering org: make build-vs-buy and architecture decisions, review designs, and set standards for quality, scalability, and security.
- Champion strong architecture practices across teams and grow our architectural capability as we scale.
Scaling Data & AI
- Set the strategy and pace for scaling our Data & AI capability, a central area of growth, and ensure we make the right bets and attract the talent to deliver on them.
- Bring informed conviction on how AI reshapes products like ours, and embed that thinking across the wider engineering org.
People Leadership
- Lead, coach, and grow our engineering teams and their leaders, helping talented people take on bigger scope and impact as we scale.
- Build a high-trust, high-ownership engineering culture, and shape how the organization is structured to deliver as we grow.
- Own technical hiring, raising the bar on the talent we bring in across all areas.
Execution & Delivery
- Ensure teams ship reliably and predictably, balancing speed with the security and resilience our mission demands.
- Partner closely with the wider leadership team as a true peer, bringing clarity, structure, and credible judgment to both technical and business conversations.
What You Bring
- Architect-grade technical depth and breadth: you can own system design and make architecture calls across APIs, web, mobile, cloud, and infrastructure. You’re close to the craft, not a manager who left the technology behind years ago.
- Hands-on cloud and platform experience: you’ve built and run modern, cloud-native systems, ideally on AWS (other major clouds welcome), with solid grounding in infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, and observability.
- Strong security sensibility: you design for security and resilience by default, and can set the right standards and practices across the engineering org.
- Modern web and mobile engineering: you understand what it takes to build and scale quality web and mobile applications and the APIs behind them, and can guide teams on architecture and trade-offs across the stack.
- Genuine AI fluency and conviction: you can set AI strategy, judge and hire strong AI talent, and have real, informed opinions on where AI takes a business like ours.
- A player-coach mindset: you’re energized by leading a focused, high-impact team while staying hands-on, not by stepping fully away from the work.
- People leadership that grows people: a track record of developing engineers and managers into stronger, more senior leaders, and shaping teams to deliver as they scale.
- Ownership of technology strategy: you’ve set technical direction, not just executed someone else’s, and translated it into roadmaps and team structure.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder partnership: you can be a true peer to senior leadership and credible to both engineers and the business, with clear and structured communication.
- Comfort with ambiguity and a lean, fast-paced environment: you thrive where ownership and adaptability matter more than big-company process.
- Direct, hands-on experience building or leading Data & AI / ML models and products.
- Experience scaling an engineering organization through a period of rapid growth.
- Experience across multiple products or business lines.
- Background in banking, fintech, telecom, identity, or fraud prevention.
