About Enterprise Brant

Enterprise Brant (Brant Community Futures Development Corporation) is a federally funded, not-for-profit organization dedicated to fostering economic development in Brantford and Brant County. Through business financing, consulting services, and community development initiatives, Enterprise Brant supports entrepreneurs, small businesses, and local organizations to stimulate growth, create jobs, and strengthen the local economy. Since its inception, the organization has provided financing and business support to hundreds of businesses while investing in projects that enhance the economic and social well-being of the community.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the General Manager provides strategic, operational, financial, and community leadership for the organization. The General Manager is responsible for implementing the strategic direction approved by the Board, managing day-to-day operations, supporting staff, overseeing loan fund and program delivery, maintaining strong relationships with community and funding partners, and ensuring the organization operates with integrity, accountability, and measurable impact.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

●

Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the Community Futures office in alignment with approved plans, policies, budgets, and funding agreements.

●

Recruit, supervise, coach, and evaluate staff, while fostering a respectful, collaborative, and service-oriented workplace culture.

●

Ensure staff have the tools, training, resources, and support required to deliver high-quality services to clients and stakeholders.

●

Oversee human resources practices, workplace health and safety, privacy, records management, and organizational risk management.

●

Prepare, monitor, and manage annual operating budgets, cash flow, financial reporting, and organizational resources.

●

Ensure sound internal controls, accurate financial records, timely reporting, and compliance with funding agreements and applicable legislation.

●

Work with the Board Treasurer, auditor, bookkeeper, and funders to support transparent and responsible financial stewardship.

●

Identify funding opportunities, prepare proposals, and negotiate contracts or service agreements as required.

●

Oversee the delivery of business advisory services, lending programs, community economic development initiatives, and special projects.

●

Ensure loan applications are reviewed, documented, assessed, approved, monitored, and reported in accordance with approved loan policies and procedures.

●

Support the Loan Committee and Board by providing clear recommendations, risk analysis, portfolio updates, and compliance reporting.

●

Monitor program outcomes, client impact, loan portfolio performance, arrears, collections, and community economic development results.

Represent the organization professionally with entrepreneurs, businesses, community partners, municipalities, funders, financial institutions, economic development organizations, and the broader Community Futures network.

•

Build and maintain strong partnerships that advance small business growth, entrepreneurship, rural and local economic development, and community prosperity.

•

Promote the organization’s programs, services, success stories, and impact through outreach, presentations, events, communications, and stakeholder engagement.

•

Identify emerging community needs, business trends, and partnership opportunities that align with the organization’s mandate

•

Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the Community Futures office in alignment with approved plans, policies, budgets, and funding agree

Requirements and Qualifications

●

Post-secondary education in business administration, finance, economic development, public administration, community development, nonprofit management, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered

●

Proven experience with commercial lending, loan assessment, credit analysis, portfolio management, or small business financing

●

Progressive leadership experience in a nonprofit, small business support, lending, economic development, government-funded, or community-based organization

●

Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, reporting, internal controls, and interpretation of financial statements.

●

Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a volunteer Board of Directors, committees, funders, staff, clients, and community partners.

●

Strong understanding of entrepreneurship, small business operations, local economic development, and the needs of rural or community-based economies.

●

Public relations experience, including initiating speaking engagements and social media marketing planning

●

Previous experience supervising staff, including hiring, training, and performance management

●

Strong professional interpersonal and communication skills

●

Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation
