Entrust CPA is a boutique, independent and well-established public practice serving privately held companies and their shareholders from offices in Richmond and Fort St. John, BC. This hybrid position is based in Richmond.
We're looking for a Manager who can become an important part of how the firm operates - someone who can own client relationships and engagements, review and develop other accountants, manage workflow and WIP, and use sound judgment to make decisions independently while working with the partner as needed.
This opportunity offers autonomy, a close relationship with clients and a sane public-practice schedule.
What you'd be doing
- Managing a portfolio of primarily private-company clients and taking responsibility for engagements from planning through completion and billing
- Managing and reviewing compilation and review engagements
- Supervising, reviewing and coaching accounting staff
- Reviewing corporate and personal tax work
- Preparing some client engagement files during peak cycles, as needed
- Acting as primary contact for assigned clients
- Managing deadlines, workflow, WIP and recoverability
- Identifying tax-planning and advisory opportunities
- Participating in more complex tax, restructuring and business advisory work
- Helping improve how work flows through the practice
This is a hands-on Manager role with a strong focus on helping the people around you become more capable and making sure work is being done at the right level.
Who we're looking for
- A Canadian CPA designation
- Strong recent Canadian public-practice experience
- Experience working with privately held / owner-managed businesses
- Strong compilation, review and corporate tax experience
- Experience reviewing files and developing staff
- Confidence managing client relationships directly
- Good judgment about what you can handle independently and what genuinely needs partner involvement
We're less concerned about an exact number of years than demonstrated capability. An established Manager would be an obvious fit, but we'd also be interested in speaking with a strong Senior Accountant or Supervisor who is already operating at this level.
The part that may be different from what you're used to
- Hybrid work arrangement
- 37.5-hour normal work week
- 40 hours per week in March and April
- Four-day / 30-hour weeks in July and August
- Paid or banked overtime
- Three weeks' vacation
- Paid time off between Christmas and New Year's
- Sick and personal days
- Health benefits
- Paid CPA and professional fees
Base salary: $110,000–$130,000, depending on experience, plus participation in incentive programs.
Entrust has been serving private companies and their shareholders since 1991. It's intentionally boutique, which means this role comes with both responsibility and visibility, and the opportunity to have a meaningful impact on how the practice operates.
