Job Title: Dispatcher

About the Role

As part of our new Multi Residential and City Facilities collection contract in Ottawa launching June 2026, we are seeking an organized and detail-oriented Dispatcher. This role is responsible for dispatching and coordinating a fleet of 20 collection trucks. The Dispatcher will be the central point of communication between drivers, operations, and management to ensure routes are completed safely, on time, and according to contract requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Dispatch daily routes for 20 collection trucks, ensuring efficient scheduling and coverage.
Monitor route progress, truck locations, and service completion throughout the day.
Serve as the main communication link between drivers and the operations team.
Respond to route issues such as blocked access, breakdowns, missed pickups, or schedule adjustments.
Track daily driver hours and ensure compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
Record service issues, delays, and route changes in the dispatch system.
Support drivers with customer concerns, safety issues, or equipment problems.
Coordinate with maintenance to address truck breakdowns or required servicing.
Provide updates and reports to the Operations Supervisor and District Manager.

Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of experience in dispatching, logistics, or transportation operations (waste industry preferred).
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple drivers and routes simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency with dispatching systems, GPS tracking, and Microsoft Office tools.
Knowledge of Ottawa and surrounding area is an asset.
Customer service-oriented with problem-solving skills.
Reliable, detail-focused, and able to remain calm under pressure.
