The Program – Enviros Neurodevelopmental Assessment & Diagnostic Centre (NDC)

NDC is Enviros’ Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) Diagnostic and Assessment Clinic for both children and adults. Enviros NDC is the only FASD clinic in Southern Alberta completing assessments for the Calgary Youth Courts. Our multidisciplinary team delivers comprehensive FASD assessments, diagnostic services, and follow-up support, helping individuals and families better understand FASD and transition to long-term, meaningful supports.

The Position – Clinic Coordinator

The Clinic Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating FASD assessments, managing intake processes and writing FASD assessment reports with collaboration with the multi-disciplinary Clinical Team (which includes a psychologist, physician and social worker). The Clinic Coordinator will also assist, along with the Clinical Team, in providing recommendations to individuals who have been recently diagnosed with FASD to better understand their unique strengths and provide individualized referrals to support some of their complex needs. The Coordinator, along with the Supervisor and Manager, will promote strong community partnerships; including collaboration with the Justice sector. As well as participate in ongoing training to achieve a solid level of understanding of the FASD assessment and diagnostic processes, the most recent Canadian guidelines and recommended FASD clinic best practices.

Duties Will Include

Acts as the first point of contact for individuals as they enter the diagnostic processProcess and procedures for clinicWork with clients and/or families to ensure all supporting documentation is completedSupports and interacts with individuals and/or families in a way that incorporates their needs, perspective, preference and experience.Educates individuals and /or families on the diagnostic process and what to expect at each appointment; assist the individuals and/or families in getting to each appointmentManage intake processesCoordination of referralsConsult with relevant professionals in collecting data for assessment- including court assessmentsWork closely with clinicians on teamConduct intake and interview of clients, family and biological mother’s (including clarification of expectations, obtaining relevant family, social, educational history, and prenatal alcohol history as required, description of current concerns)Facilitate completion of standardized questionnairesCoordinate multi-disciplinary team assessmentsEducate social service providers in the referral and assessment process for FASDCommunicate best practice strategies based on assessment resultsCollaborate with community and intersectoral groups and assist with community capacity building for pre and post assessment education and supportCreate and deliver presentations to stakeholders regarding FASD and best practiceSubmit data for reports as requiredMaintain training standards as requiredWrite FASD assessment reports in collaboration with the Clinical Team

Qualifications

Minimum degree in nursing, social work or other related health/social services field is requiredAbility to create and maintain effective team relationshipsAbility to work both independently and within a team environmentStrong organizational skillsExperience working with teams of various professional backgroundsExperience interviewing clients where sensitive and emotional information may be sharedExcellent written and verbal communication skillsHave a knowledge and understanding of FASDCultural sensitivity and intercultural skillsComputer literacyClear Criminal and Child Intervention check completed

Responsibilities
