The Opportunity

An established mining organization with approximately 3,000 employees is seeking an experienced IT Consultant to support technology modernization, infrastructure improvements and enterprise IT initiatives. This engagement is suited to a senior technology professional who can assess complex IT environments, identify opportunities for improvement and work with internal teams and external partners to execute practical solutions. The organization operates in a technically demanding, multi-site environment where system reliability, cybersecurity and business continuity are essential. We are open to consultants based outside Sudbury who can accommodate a hybrid arrangement and travel on-site when required.

What You'll Be Working On

• IT Infrastructure & Modernization: Assess existing infrastructure, recommend improvements and support technology upgrades across a distributed organization.
• Cybersecurity & Risk: Evaluate security practices, identify vulnerabilities and recommend practical improvements to strengthen resilience.
• Cloud & Enterprise Systems: Provide guidance on cloud technologies, Microsoft 365, enterprise applications and systems integration.
• Technology Strategy: Help translate business requirements into achievable technology priorities, project plans and implementation roadmaps.
• Vendor & Service Management: Evaluate external technology providers, service agreements and opportunities to improve performance and cost efficiency.
• Operational Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve IT service delivery, technical support processes and the overall effectiveness of technology operations.

What We're Looking For

We're interested in speaking with professionals who bring:

• 8+ years of progressive experience in IT infrastructure, enterprise technology or technology consulting.
• Experience supporting medium to large organizations, ideally with multiple locations.
• Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, cloud environments, cybersecurity and enterprise applications.
• Experience evaluating technology environments and leading improvement initiatives.
• The ability to work independently while collaborating with technical teams and senior stakeholders.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical recommendations to business leaders.

Previous consulting experience is preferred, although experienced IT Directors, Infrastructure Managers and Technology Leaders interested in contract engagements are encouraged to apply.

Contract Details

Compensation: $100–$150 per hour CAD, depending on experience and expertise.

Location: Sudbury, Ontario.

Work Arrangement: Hybrid, with flexibility for remote work and on-site travel as required by the engagement.

Engagement: Contract consulting assignment.
