Location: Pearl Street Energy Centre (PSEC), Toronto, Ontario

Type: Full-Time, Unionized Position

Are you a licensed 2nd Class Operating Engineer who enjoys solving complex operational challenges and keeping critical infrastructure running safely and efficiently? Enwave Energy Corporation is looking for a skilled professional to join the team at Pearl Street Energy Centre (PSEC), one of our key energy facilities in Toronto.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a plant environment, takes ownership of operational performance, and wants to play an important role in supporting reliable energy delivery. You'll contribute to the safe operation of critical plant systems while helping strengthen operational resilience, knowledge transfer, and workforce sustainability within the facility.

At Enwave, we're helping build a lower-carbon future through innovative energy solutions. If you're looking for a role where your technical expertise makes a real impact every day, we'd like to hear from you.

What you'll do

You'll be responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of plant equipment and systems while maintaining compliance with Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) requirements, regulatory standards, and company policies. You'll operate and monitor boilers, chillers, CHP units, heat pumps, generators, and auxiliary equipment while maintaining system performance and responding to changing operational requirements.

You'll perform plant rounds, inspections, testing, troubleshooting, lockout/tagout activities, equipment isolations, and operational adjustments. You'll also support outage and maintenance activities, maintain accurate operational records, and contribute to safe and effective shift handovers. When scheduled, you may also perform duties associated with the 3rd Class Shift Engineer classification.

Beyond day-to-day operations, you'll help strengthen workforce capability through knowledge sharing, support succession planning efforts, and contribute to maintaining a culture of accountability, teamwork, reliability, and continuous improvement

What we're looking for

  • Valid Ontario 2nd Class Operating Engineer Certificate issued by TSSA.
  • Strong working knowledge of power plant and thermal generation systems, including boilers, CHP equipment, chillers, heat pumps, generators, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Knowledge of water treatment processes and water chemistry testing procedures.
  • Understanding of TSSA requirements, plant operating procedures, and safe work practices.
  • Ability to troubleshoot operating issues and make sound operational decisions.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a plant operations environment.
  • Proficiency with computerized plant monitoring and maintenance systems is considered an asset.
  • Valid Class G Driver's Licence with a satisfactory driving record, where required.
  • WHMIS and other applicable safety certifications are considered assets.

Why Enwave

Our teams operate critical energy infrastructure while continually looking for smarter, more efficient ways to serve our customers and communities.

You’ll have the opportunity to apply your technical expertise in a hands-on environment where safety, reliability, teamwork, and continuous improvement matter every day. And if keeping critical systems running safely, efficiently, and reliably sounds like your kind of workday, we’ll probably get along just fine.
