Original job description

We are looking for a hands-on BI Platform Operations Engineer to provide production operational support, administration, maintenance, and technical troubleshooting for our enterprise Business Intelligence platforms and associated AWS services.

The role primarily supports Tableau and Amazon QuickSight / Amazon Quick Suite, including a custom BI-as-a-Service (BIaaS) platform built on top of Amazon QuickSight. The BIaaS platform consists of multiple backend services, RESTful APIs, AWS serverless and data services, and a web-based user interface.

This is primarily a platform engineering and production support role, rather than a dashboard/report development position. The successful candidate will be comfortable troubleshooting across BI, application, API, data, AI-assisted analytics, and cloud infrastructure layers, and working with engineering teams to maintain a reliable and stable production service.

Req#1094783533

The recruiting efforts for this position are intended to fill an existing vacancy for a new position.

Responsibilities

Provide production operational support, administration, and maintenance for Tableau and Amazon QuickSight/Quick Suite platforms
Administer and support the custom BIaaS platform, including backend services, APIs, and underlying AWS infrastructure
Troubleshoot QuickSight assets (Dashboards, Datasets, Data Sources, permissions, sharing) and related access issues
Diagnose and resolve issues with SPICE ingestion, dataset refreshes, and data source connectivity
Monitor and troubleshoot supporting AWS services, including Athena, Glue, Lambda, API Gateway, and CloudWatch
Investigate and resolve API integration issues across RESTful services and Lambda functions
Analyze logs across application, API, and AWS services to identify root cause of multi-layer issues
Participate in a rotation-based on-call schedule to support production incidents
Lead or support incident management, problem management, and root-cause analysis activities
Build and maintain scripts/automation to support platform operations and administrative tasks

Requirements

Strong hands-on experience supporting enterprise BI platforms in production environments
Strong experience with Tableau Server administration and operational support
Strong hands-on experience with Amazon QuickSight administration, authoring, and production support
Experience with Amazon QuickSight APIs / AWS SDKs for programmatic management of assets and permissions
Working knowledge of Amazon Athena and AWS Glue Data Catalog
Experience with AWS Lambda and Amazon API Gateway, including troubleshooting serverless components
Strong understanding of RESTful API concepts and experience troubleshooting API integrations
Hands-on experience with Amazon CloudWatch (logs, metrics, dashboards, alarms) and AWS IAM
Experience with production incident management, problem management, and root-cause analysis
Experience with scripting or automation using Python, PowerShell, Bash, or AWS CLI

An artificial intelligence system is software that is developed with one or more techniques that can, for a given set of human-defined objectives, using algorithmic information processing, generate outputs such as content, predictions, recommendations, or decisions with varying levels of autonomy (“AI”). Tasks that humans have traditionally done by thinking and reasoning are increasingly being done by, or with the help of, AI to help create efficiencies. EPAM may use AI during the recruitment process, in connection with collecting or processing your personal data. Some (non-exhaustive) examples of tasks that EPAM may use AI for include conducting initial screening, creating transcripts of interviews, and assessing applications/CVs against defined job description criteria to make suggestions to the individuals evaluating your candidacy. Your personal data and the results of any processing are not shared with AI applications outside of EPAM infrastructure. While EPAM may use AI to help create efficiencies during the recruitment process, EPAM does not use AI to make hiring decisions, which is done by EPAM Talent Acquisition and management.
