We are hiring a full-time temporary Senior Analyst, Regulatory Reporting position for up to 11 months working out of Edmonton, AB. We welcome applications from internal and external candidates.

As the Senior Analyst, Regulatory Reporting, you’ll play a key role in supporting Energy Services’ regulatory reporting requirements including leading the preparation of revenue requirement for non-energy regulatory applications, coordinating and responding to information requests, oversee the preparation for annual Rule 5 regulatory reporting and providing support on other regulatory filings and compliance related matters.

You’ll take ownership of the regulatory models and reports within Workday Adaptive Planning and Office Connect, ensuring information is accurate, reliable and ready to support regulatory requirements. As the go-to resource for Office Connect, you’ll also provide guidance and support to Finance and Operations teams in using these tools effectively.

Beyond regulatory work, you’ll contribute to management reporting, including month-end, quarter-end and year-end activities, account reconciliations and analysis. You’ll bring strong attention to detail, sound judgment and a collaborative approach to delivering complex reporting and regulatory work from start to finish.

Where we work: This position is eligible for our hybrid work program, offering the flexibility to work remotely while requiring a minimum of two days per week onsite. Initial onboarding will be completed onsite.

What you’d be responsible for

Contributing to the Regulatory and Customer Services reporting group’s plans and direction, aligning work with EUI and Energy Services’ regulatory reporting strategies.
Maintaining and periodically reviewing cost allocators, detailed allocated results (DAR) and product line statements (PLS).
Developing and delivering initiatives that support the Regulatory and Customer Services reporting business plan.
Meeting Corporate and Energy Services reporting timelines and performance expectations, while identifying opportunities to streamline processes and reduce manual effort.
Collaborating across teams to support high-quality, timely deliverables and shared priorities
Supporting compliance with policies, standards and regulatory requirements by developing and maintaining effective processes and managing associated risks.
Serving as a subject matter expert for Workday Adaptive Planning, Office Connect and Energy Services’ non-energy regulatory reporting.
Preparing non-energy revenue requirement and regulatory reports, while ensuring appropriate quality and process controls are built into models and reports.
Supporting Finance and Operations teams through guidance and training on the effective use of Workday Adaptive Planning and Office Connect.
Leading testing of Workday Adaptive Planning and Office Connect regulatory models and reports to validate accuracy and reliability.
Forecasting, analyzing and reviewing regulatory calculations for Energy Services’ non-energy applications, assessing results for reasonableness and working with appropriate teams to resolve discrepancies or anomalies.
Supporting month-end, quarter-end and year-end reporting activities, including preparing and reviewing account reconciliations, analyzing financial results and investigating variances.
Other duties as assigned, including special projects.

What’s required to be successful

A degree in Business is required
Professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, CMA, CGA) is required
4+ years accounting experience is required
Understanding and ability to apply GAAP/IFRS
Knowledge of the electricity industry and regulatory environment
Basic understanding of Oracle GL system
Advanced modeling skills and knowledge in the use of Microsoft Excel
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to clearly present information to a variety of audiences in both formal and informal settings
Proven track record for improving process efficiencies and solving problems
Analytical skills required to assess reasonability of results
Experience providing financial expertise for designing and testing IT systems upgrades
Experience with budgeting software (e.g. Workday Adaptive Planning, Office Connect, Oracle Enterprise Performance Management, Hyperion, etc.)
Experience preparing regulatory cost of services and compliance reporting
