About EQ3

EQ3 is a Canadian furniture company headquartered in Winnipeg, creating timeless furniture that brings together thoughtful design, quality materials and enduring value. Our business connects Canadian upholstery manufacturing, retail showrooms, e-commerce, and wholesale, giving our product development team a direct role in shaping our collections and the customer experience.

The opportunity

We are looking for a Director of Product Development to lead product strategy and development across the EQ3 portfolio. Reporting to the President, you will guide products from initial concept through development, launch and lifecycle management.

You will combine design judgment with commercial insight to build a cohesive assortment that delivers quality, comfort and value. Working closely with engineering, manufacturing, procurement, marketing, sales and operations, you will turn customer needs and business priorities into a clear product roadmap that supports profitable growth.

This position is based on-site in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

What you’ll do

  • Lead product strategy, planning and lifecycle management across the EQ3 portfolio.
  • Develop and manage the product roadmap, setting priorities, milestones and deliverables for new products and improvements to existing collections.
  • Translate customer feedback, market research and business insights into clear development briefs and business cases.
  • Guide decisions on materials, construction and product features, balancing design, quality, comfort, durability, cost and manufacturing feasibility.
  • Collaborate across departments to coordinate product launches and meet financial and customer satisfaction goals.
  • Evaluate assortment performance and identify opportunities to strengthen collections, improve margins, reduce unnecessary complexity and improve product availability.
  • Engage with customers and channel partners to understand product performance and emerging needs.
  • Present product direction, progress, business cases and risks to the President and other stakeholders.
  • Lead and develop the product development team, establishing clear expectations and strong working relationships across the business.

What you’ll bring

  • A master’s degree in product leadership, business administration, marketing, finance, economics or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • A proven record of developing and launching successful products, managing product lines and building cohesive product portfolios.
  • Strong commercial judgment and the ability to translate customer research, market insights and performance data into practical decisions.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to influence and align teams across functions.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in furniture, home furnishings or related consumer products is an asset, particularly in environments that connect design, materials and manufacturing.

Working at EQ3

Join a collaborative team where thoughtful design and practical problem-solving shape the work. You will have the opportunity to influence our product portfolio and work closely with colleagues across manufacturing and our customer-facing channels.

We offer:

  • A comprehensive benefits package and support for work-life balance.
  • Employee discounts, wellness programs and group banking benefits.
  • Community involvement, employee recognition and activities through the EQ3 Spirit Committee.
  • Opportunities for professional growth and internal advancement.
