The Greenstone Mine commenced production in May 2024 and will be one of Canada's largest open-pit gold mines, with annual production expected to average nearly 400,000 ounces of gold per year for an initial 14-year mine life with additional potential from a large underground deposit. Greenstone Gold Mines LP is owned by Equinox Gold Corp, a Vancouver-based mining company with four operating mines in Canada, the United States, Mexico and Nicaragua.
Job Summary
We are seeking a Contour Drill Operator to join our team. Reporting to the Mine Operations Supervisor, the Contour Drill Operator is responsible for safely and productively operating a D65Smartroc.

Job Summary
We are seeking a Contour Drill Operator to join our team. Reporting to the Mine Operations Supervisor, the Contour Drill Operator is responsible for safely and productively operating a D65Smartroc.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate the D65Smartroc drill in a safe and efficient way in accordance with all relevant legislation, company policies and procedures.
- Perform field level risk assessments.
- Maintain a high level of housekeeping as well as refilling all fluids and replacing tooling as required.
- Complete logbooks and daily reports on delays, production, geological information, and safety issues.
- Use two-way-radio, and horn signals to communicate with other operators and ensure safety.
- Use the drill according to operating practices to bore holes varying in sizes from 165mm to 229mm.
- Monitor gauges, and other indicators to make ensure the drill is working properly, report discrepancies.
- Monitor gauges and adjust pull-down, hold-back, rotation and air pressures to optimize penetration rates and borehole quality as ground conditions change.
- 3+ years of experience operating a contour drill at a mine site.
- Self-motivated with track record of successfully working independently.
- Manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Able to read, understand, and follow work instructions in a safe, accurate, and timely manner.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Takes initiative and works independently.
- Willing to adapt and work in an inclusive work environment.
- Willing to perform repetitive tasks.
- This position is based in Geraldton, Ontario.
- Valid driver's license.
- Heavy Equipment Operator training or related experience required.
- Common Core for Surface Mining is an asset.

Responsibilities
Safely and efficiently operate a D65Smartroc contour drill to bore holes of varying sizes, adjusting operating parameters to suit changing ground conditions and maintain borehole quality. Complete risk assessments, equipment checks, maintenance, housekeeping, and accurate production, geological, delay, and safety reports while communicating with other operators.
Requirements
Requires at least three years of contour drill operating experience at a mine site, along with heavy equipment operator training or related experience and a valid driver's license. Common Core for Surface Mining is an asset; candidates should be safety-focused, able to work independently, follow instructions, communicate effectively, and manage competing priorities.
