The role also contributes to select in-house design activities and ensures technical information is effectively communicated between consultants and the project execution team.
The successful candidate has practical experience in civil, mining, water management, or tailings-related projects and a strong understanding of engineering design coordination, consultant management, and project development within an operating mine environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and prepare scopes of work for engineering studies, consulting assignments, and construction packages related to water management, mine infrastructure projects, and waste dumps.
- Support the preparation, issuance, and administration of Requests for Proposals (RFPs).
- Respond to technical questions from contractors during tendering and construction phases.
- Coordinate and manage engineering consultants, including review of design deliverables, drawings, specifications, as-builts, and technical reports.
- Act as the primary technical liaison between consultants and the project execution team.
- Provide in-house engineering and design support where appropriate.
- Review technical documentation to confirm compliance with project requirements, site standards, and regulatory obligations.
- Support procurement and contract activities by providing technical input and evaluations.
- Coordinate with operations, engineering, environmental, and geotechnical teams to confirm designs align with operational requirements.
- Assist with project planning, risk identification, and technical decision-making throughout the project lifecycle.
- Prepare technical summaries and project updates for management review.
- Support ad hoc mine infrastructure construction projects from initiation to completion.
- Assist in the selection and management of consultants and contractors.
- Conduct field inspections in conjunction with the project execution team.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in mining, water management systems, earthworks, or mine infrastructure projects.
- Experience working with engineering consultants and coordinating technical design deliverables.
- Experience preparing scopes of work, tender packages, or RFP documentation.
- Experience in project management and cross-functional collaboration.
- Ability to manage multiple technical assignments and priorities simultaneously.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft 365 productivity suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
- Experience with CAD software.
- Strong commitment to safety.
- Good verbal and written communications skills.
- Willing to adapt and work in an inclusive work environment.
- Full proficiency in English.
- Fly-in fly-out (FIFO) rotational work schedule.
- This position is based in Geraldton, Ontario.
