About the Role

The Vice President, Technology & Data will build the technology and data foundation Equiton needs to operate with greater confidence, efficiency and insight. The VP will assess Equiton’s current systems and capabilities, set a clear direction for improvement, and lead the work to create a more integrated, reliable and well-governed environment.

This is a player-coach role with broad impact across Equiton’s businesses. The VP will modernize core systems, centralize ownership of business applications, build an enterprise data warehouse and reporting capability, and advance practical uses of AI and automation, working with leaders across the organization to prioritize initiatives and deliver measurable results.

***Please note this is an in-office position based in Burlington, ON.

What You’ll Do

Strategy and Priorities

  • Assess Equiton’s technology environment, including systems, infrastructure, data, vendors, team capabilities and risks, and translate business priorities into a phased technology roadmap.
  • Define Equiton’s technology architecture and standards, building on our existing Microsoft environment and introducing new platforms where there is a clear business case.
  • Own the technology budget and build business cases for major investments, setting clear outcomes and tracking delivery, adoption, costs and benefits.

Systems and Delivery

  • Lead the modernization and integration of Equiton’s enterprise systems, including the transition to HubSpot CRM and the selection and implementation of accounting, property management and construction management platforms.
  • Guide projects from requirements through testing and launch, improving reliability, performance and adoption.
  • Take central ownership of all business applications and SaaS: maintain the inventory, approve new purchases, decide what to build, buy, improve or retire, and manage vendors, contracts, licensing, renewals, access and spend, with defined stakeholders and administrators for each application.

Data and AI

  • Lead the design and development of an enterprise data warehouse that brings Equiton’s core systems together in a reliable source of truth, with clear data ownership and quality standards.
  • Build reporting and analytics, including Power BI dashboards and self-service reporting, that give leaders timely insight into fund, portfolio, investor and operational performance.
  • Develop an enterprise approach to AI and automation, leading practical initiatives that improve productivity and decision-making, with appropriate safeguards for data protection, security and human oversight.

Governance and Team Leadership

  • Serve as Equiton’s senior information security leader, accountable for the cybersecurity program, including security policies, identity and access management, endpoint and vulnerability management, third-party risk, security awareness training and cyber-risk reporting to the CEO and leadership team.
  • Establish governance for technology, applications, data and vendors that supports applicable Canadian and U.S. requirements, and oversee incident response, disaster recovery and business continuity.
  • Lead and develop Equiton’s technology team, including internal development, data and reporting, and desktop support.
  • Partner with leaders across Equiton to understand business needs, drive adoption and deliver practical results.

What You’ll Bring

  • 12+ years of progressive technology experience, including 5+ years in a senior leadership role setting strategy and leading the modernization of an existing environment, including enterprise system implementations (accounting, property management or construction management platforms especially relevant).
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Data Management, Business Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Deep experience with the Microsoft ecosystem (Microsoft 365, Azure, Entra ID, Power Platform) is required; experience leading a CRM migration (HubSpot preferred) or with AWS is an asset.
  • Strong, hands-on data background, including data architecture, warehousing, integrations, governance and BI, and a track record of delivering practical AI and automation initiatives.
  • Experience leading development, data and analytics teams or external partners, and managing a business application portfolio, vendors and technology spend.
  • Strong knowledge of cybersecurity and IT risk frameworks (such as NIST or CIS), with experience leading security, privacy and business continuity programs.
  • Experience in a regulated, complex or multi-business environment; real estate, private equity, asset management, multinational or U.S. market experience is an asset.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to explain technical decisions in business terms.
