Radio SW Developer Co-op

Location: Ottawa, Ontario

Start Date: January 11th, 2027

Ericsson Radio Product development is responsible for all aspects of new feature development: systemization, design, coding and testing of radio software to create new capabilities and satisfy customer needs. Candidates can expect a technical role with influence on product design. If you are selected for this position, you will work in an Agile environment as part of a cross-functional systems, hardware and software team (XFT) combining efforts to deliver world class 5G and Open RAN radio products. Work tasks will include some or all of the following (depending on the work assignment for the XFT):

What you will do:

Developing radio production software
Developing automated test cases to secure new/legacy functionality
Troubleshooting and contributing to resolution of issues uncovered during testing
Working with the team, and on your own, to perform software/hardware integration testing in the lab
Building up radio software architecture and radio access technology knowledge
Reviewing software designs and test plans
Understanding radio software development way of working and CI/CD development environment
Utilizing AI agents for code assist, unit testing, and troubleshooting

The skills you bring:

Student in a B.Sc. or M. Sc. program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field. (ideally have completed minimum of 3 years in the undergraduate program or 1 year in the post-graduate program to be considered)
Strong object-oriented programming skills and relevant experience
Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Proactive, motivated, organized and efficient
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work in a team environment

You might also have:

Basic Knowledge of wireless communication standards would be beneficial
Strong Python/Java/C/C++ programming skill (one or two of them) and experience would be an asset
Hand-on experiences on AI/ML agent development, Front-end/Back-end development, and Kubernetes will be an asset
Knowledge of AI/ML would be an asset
Knowledge of Agile and Lean methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban would be an asset
Understanding of Software design patterns would be an asset

Your Pay

The salary offered is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, and the candidate’s combination of job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience.

The salary range for this position is:

Bachelors: $25.50/hr - $34.50/hr
Masters: $37/hr

Responsibilities

Requirements

Applicants must be students in a bachelor's or master's program in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field; the posting ideally expects at least three undergraduate years or one postgraduate year completed. Strong object-oriented programming, analytical and troubleshooting abilities, organization, communication, and teamwork are expected; programming in Python, Java, C, or C++ and knowledge of wireless standards, AI/ML, Kubernetes, Agile, or design patterns are assets.
