Original job description

The Opportunity

Euna Solutions is building a modern data foundation, and we need the architect who will define it. You'll set the reference architecture, engineering patterns, and governance posture for an entire data program - then roll up your sleeves and build alongside the team when it matters. If you thrive on designing things right the first time and handing durable patterns to engineers who can run with them, this is your engagement.

What You'll Do

Define a managed AWS reference architecture that delivers reliability without requiring a large team to operate it
Specify the layered data model - raw to cleansed to curated to a fully safe analytical layer that holds no sensitive data - so the program never becomes a data swamp
Establish governance across every layer: data classification, constituent PII handling, access control, lineage, and residency
Create reusable engineering patterns for capture, land-and-store, transform-and-serve, and govern, so every team building data products assembles them consistently instead of reinventing plumbing
Design loose coupling from operational systems using change-data-capture or scheduled extracts, without creating hard dependencies on their roadmaps
Set the two-speed guardrail - make the governed, pattern-based path the default and define the narrow criteria under which a low-code workflow is permitted
Drop into delivery and build data products yourself when the team needs the extra hands

What You Bring

Senior data architecture experience with production AWS systems, including S3-based lake or lakehouse designs and a governed analytical layer
Deep fluency with medallion or layered data architectures and the governance controls that ride across them
Experience designing contextual or semantic data layers that reduce GenAI token consumption so downstream AI features run faster and cost less
Hands-on knowledge of managed AWS data services - Glue, Athena, Lake Formation, DMS or equivalent - with a strong bias toward managed over self-run
Proven experience designing for data classification, PII handling, access control, lineage, and residency, ideally in a regulated or public sector context
The judgment to build just enough: you can define a blueprint without over-engineering it, defer what the backlog doesn't yet need, and hand off clean, documented patterns a small team can execute against

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

Familiarity with dbt and warehouse-side modeling (e.g. Redshift) and with low-code orchestration such as n8n
Experience with Canadian data residency requirements and multi-region AWS deployments
A track record of standing up governance from day one rather than retrofitting it later

Location

This position will be hybrid with 3 days/week in our Oakville, office. (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday)

Compensation Range: $165,000 - $210,000 CAD We believe in openness, so we publish our range from the start. Where an offer lands depends on your background, strengths, and how you’ll contribute to the work ahead.

This role fills an existing vacancy. Euna uses AI responsibly to assist in screening, assessing, or selecting applicants. AI helps us work smarter, but people lead the process.

AI Mindset at Euna Solutions We believe the future of work is human + AI. At Euna Solutions, we encourage our team members to leverage AI tools to enhance creativity, efficiency, and decision-making. We’re looking for people who are curious about emerging technologies, eager to experiment, and committed to using AI responsibly to augment - not replace - their expertise.

If you enjoy exploring new ways to solve problems, learning continuously, and applying AI to make your work smarter and more impactful, you’ll thrive here.

Life at Euna Solutions

We're a team of builders, problem-solvers, and public sector champions. We've built a workplace around a straightforward idea: people do their best work when they're trusted, supported, and not running on empty.

Here's what that actually looks like:

🏢 How we work We're hybrid - three days a week in our Oakville or Atlanta offices, with standard hours on those days. What the remaining days look like depends on your role and your manager. We talk about it early in the process so there are no surprises on either side.

🧘 Eunafier Days Twice a year, you get an extra day tacked onto a long weekend. Simple reason: people who take breaks do better work. Use it however you need.

🙌 Community is part of who we are Our Engagement Committee finds meaningful ways to give back through time, donations, and shared expertise. We're invested in the places where our people actually live and work.

🤝 Philanthropy Time We give every employee up to eight hours a year to spend on causes that matter to them. We want you to show up for your community - and we make time for it.

🎉 Real connection at scale You won't know all 600+ people - and that's okay. What matters is building real relationships with the people you work with every day. Our culture team creates consistent opportunities for that, so work doesn't feel isolating.

📈 Room to grow Whether you're going deep on AI, building expertise in government tech, or stepping into a bigger role, we invest in your development - through budget, mentorship, and real opportunity to move when you're ready.
