ACCOUNTING TECHNICIAN, CUSTOMER ACCOUNTS & DEDUCTIONS

ABOUT EVIVE

Evive is Canada's largest frozen smoothie brand: more than 30 million smoothies enjoyed to date, and still growing. Founded in 2015 by Claudia and Dominic, Evive invented the pre-portioned frozen smoothie, no blender required. Ten years later, we're on shelf at IGA, Metro, Loblaws and Walmart across Canada and the US, plus our online store, with Smoothie Bites, Smoothie Pops and protein smoothies. About twenty people, a close-knit culture, fast decisions. Our belief: eating well should never be a compromise.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Our customers are major grocery banners and distributors in Canada and the US. Every payment comes with deductions: promo programs, compliance fees, returns, price discrepancies, distributor charges. Someone has to make sure we get paid in full, on time, and that every deduction is justified, disputed or recovered. That's you.

If you've done this work at a food manufacturer selling to the big chains, you know what we mean: remittances to break down, deduction codes that differ by retailer, dispute windows that don't forgive. That's the experience we're looking for.

You report to the Financial Controller, in a small finance team where your work is visible every week. You own the full customer accounts cycle, from invoicing to deductions, working closely with sales. Small team also means wearing several hats: month-end support, grant claims, ad hoc analyses.

High-volume execution role, not supervisory. For someone meticulous who likes closing files, picking up the phone when needed, and seeing the numbers balance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Customer accounts and collections

Invoice retail and distributor customers from shipments (Acumatica, EDI, portals)
Keep the aging current and follow up on a weekly collections calendar
Reconcile major customers' accounts monthly
Handle credit notes, price claims and delivery discrepancies with logistics and sales
Produce the weekly report: DSO, overdue accounts, expected cash

Deductions and trade spend

Analyze every remittance and code deductions by type: promo, compliance, returns, price, distributor
Validate every promo deduction against the calendar and signed agreements, with sales
Dispute unauthorized deductions within each retailer's window, through to repayment
Maintain the open deductions register by customer: amount, age, status, supporting documents
Produce the monthly reconciliation of actual promo spend vs budget by customer
Manage deduction and claims portals (Canada and US)

Month-end, team support and continuous improvement

Entries and reconciliations for customer accounts and deductions at month-end, including provisions
Help the finance team at month-end and on other files: grant claims, analyses, auditor requests
Support the annual audit: customer confirmations, provision analysis
Document your work processes to ease knowledge transfer, ensure business continuity and strengthen the team's versatility
Help automate your own work: automated remittance reading, collection alerts, AI tools built in-house

ABOUT YOU

Required

3+ years in accounts receivable at a food CPG manufacturer or distributor selling to major grocery banners or distributors
Hands-on, recent experience with customer deductions: remittance analysis, coding, validation against promo agreements, disputes within retailer windows, follow-through to recovery
Strong Excel
Bilingual French and English, written and spoken (US customers and portals)
DEC or AEC in accounting, or equivalent experience

What sets you apart

You like closing files: a deduction open for 60 days bothers you personally
Autonomy: you organize your week around retailer deadlines without being reminded
You communicate well with sales, logistics and customers
You like small teams and wearing several hats

Assets

Experience with Loblaws, Metro, Sobeys, Costco or Walmart deduction portals
Curiosity about automation and AI applied to accounting
SME experience

WHAT WE OFFER

Competitive salary · Hybrid, 3 days remote and 2 days at our Brossard office · Group insurance · VRSP · Free Evive products · An innovative company where you learn fast and your ideas travel far

TECHNICIEN(NE) COMPTABLE, COMPTES CLIENTS ET DÉDUCTIONS

Evive · Brossard (hybride) · Temps plein, permanent · English below
