Overseeing day-to-day operations, including managing subcontractors, purchasing materials and maintaining an inventory of tools and equipment.
Ensuring compliance with applicable health and safety requirements and promoting safe work practices.
Serving as a key point of contact for clients, addressing concerns and ensuring satisfaction with completed work.
Setting business and operational objectives, tracking results and reporting progress to the President.
Evaluating productivity and performance and implementing strategies for improvement.
Recruiting, hiring, training and evaluating employees, supporting a positive work environment and promoting skills development.
Developing and executing business plans with the President, setting priorities and measuring progress against operational, financial and people goals.
Assessing business performance, market opportunities and capacity to guide improvements, investment decisions and sustainable growth.
Maintaining the company’s reputation through quality work, responsive service and positive client relationships.
Overseeing financial performance, including budgeting, cost control and review of financial reports.
Identifying, assessing and mitigating risks associated with projects and operations.

Qualifications and Experience

Previous senior-level experience in a construction or renovation business.
A demonstrated track record of building and retaining strong teams, developing employees, navigating difficult conversations and holding people accountable with fairness and consistency.
Demonstrated ability to think strategically and turn business goals into clear priorities, practical plans and measurable results.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients, staff and subcontractors.
Experience planning, organizing and managing residential construction or renovation projects.

Strong financial acumen, including experience managing budgets, tracking expenses and interpreting financial reports.
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot operational issues and implement practical solutions.
Ability to identify and pursue new business opportunities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize competing demands.
Knowledge of project management methods is an asset.
