Position Overview
The Facilities Manager is responsible for overseeing the Company’s owned and leased facilities portfolio, including preventative and corrective building maintenance, major capital and leasehold improvement projects, contractor coordination, and administration of the facilities maintenance budget. The role works with local facility maintenance personnel, operational stakeholders, Strategic Procurement, landlords, FBO operators, consultants, and contractors to ensure facilities remain safe, compliant, reliable, and capable of supporting business and air operations.
What You Will Do
- Ensure safety and compliance by ensuring all facilities activities comply with Company policies and applicable health, safety, environmental, security, building code, and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and oversee preventative maintenance programs for Company-owned facilities, building systems, equipment, and infrastructure to support safe, reliable, and efficient operations.
- Manage corrective maintenance activities by identifying, prioritizing, scheduling, tracking, and documenting repairs to minimize operational disruption and protect Company assets.
- Monitor facility and asset conditions and develop maintenance, renewal, and replacement plans for major building systems, equipment, and infrastructure.
- Coordinate facility maintenance services by providing functional direction to local maintenance personnel and overseeing the building maintenance ticketing system, work orders, response times, recurring issues, and service performance.
- Lead major capital and leasehold improvement projects at Company-owned and third-party leased facilities, from requirements definition and planning through execution, commissioning, deficiency resolution, and project close-out.
- Partner with business leaders, operational stakeholders, and Strategic Procurement to define project requirements, scopes of work, tender documentation, bid evaluation criteria, budgets, timelines, and acceptance requirements.
- Review project proposals and technical submissions, including bids, drawings, specifications, and methodologies, to ensure technical suitability, constructability, operational compatibility, and alignment with approved requirements.
- Manage facility requirements at leased and FBO locations, coordinating with landlords, FBO operators, airport authorities, internal stakeholders, and contractors to address approvals, access requirements, operational constraints, and lease obligations.
- Manage contractors, vendors, and consultants, including onsite activities, safety and security requirements, work sequencing, shutdowns, inspections, performance, workmanship, documentation, issue resolution, and contractual compliance.
- Develop and manage the facilities maintenance and improvement budget of approximately $3 million annually, monitoring expenditures, commitments, invoices, forecasts, and change requests while evaluating solutions based on lifecycle cost, risk, operational impact, and value.
- Drive facilities planning and continuous improvement by establishing consistent standards, procedures, service expectations, and KPIs; maintaining asset, project, contractor, and warranty documentation; reporting on performance, risks, and capital requirements; and providing facilities expertise in support of operational excellence, sustainability, business continuity, and employee and customer experience.
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Facilities Managerment, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, Building Systems, Project Management, or a related discipline. Equivalent experience may be considered.
- 7 years of progressive multi-site facilities maintenance, building systems, contractor management, and capital or leasehold improvement project experience.
- Experience with preventative maintenance, corrective work-order or ticketing systems, SOR development, technical bid review, building codes, audits, and contractor safety.
- Strong knowledge of building systems and maintenance best practices.
- Budget management and financial stewardship involving a significant facilities portfolio.
- Strong project management, organizational, communication, stakeholder management, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Bilingual English and French.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications and working knowledge of project management, facilities management, and other relevant business software and tools.
- Experience in aviation, airport, FBO, hangar, industrial, or operationally sensitive facilities.
