Original job description
Job Title: Business Development Manager, Shipping (Industry Manager) · Location: Montreal, Quebec (hybrid)
The Opportunity
A global weather intelligence and voyage optimisation business is building its first Canadian team, and Montreal is the shipping seat. You inherit an established group of Canadian shipping customers and grow them. You also open new fleets across Eastern Canada and the US Northeast. Deals typically run US$60k to $100k and scale with fleet size.
The Impact You Will Have
- Grow existing Canadian shipping accounts into larger, multi-product relationships
- Win new operators across Montreal, the St Lawrence and the US East Coast corridor
- Lead complex sales through operations, procurement and trials, with technical and proposal support
- Sell alongside the parent group’s established maritime team, opening doors you couldn’t open alone
- Help write the Canadian playbook for a global business
What Success Looks Like
- 2 to 5 years in shipping: on the operator side (master, superintendent, operations, chartering) or selling maritime technology
- You understand how a vessel is run and speak the customer’s language from day one
- Comfortable with long cycles, contract review and procurement
- Relationships across Canadian shipowners and operators
- Eager to learn the product and the commercial craft
What Is on Offer
- A base salary pitched to attract people from senior operator and technology roles.
- A bonus of at least 20% at target that grows as you exceed it.
- Hybrid working, with office space in Montreal.
If you know ships and want to move from running them to shaping how they are run, let’s talk in confidence.
