This role is intended for an experienced engineer who can independently advance technical work, coordinate multidisciplinary inputs and help establish the delivery practices of a growing local bridge team, with room to develop toward broader project and technical leadership.

Bridge Design and Project Delivery
Complete structural analysis, modelling and design for bridge and transportation structure assignments, including rehabilitation, replacement and new-structure options.
Prepare design calculations, criteria, technical memoranda, assessment reports and rehabilitation recommendations.
Support field investigations and condition assessments, identify technical risks and recommend practical solutions.
Take ownership of defined bridge work packages from preliminary design through tender, including coordinated drawings, details, quantities, specifications, special provisions and cost estimates.
Work with engineers and technical-production staff to produce coordinated, constructible deliverables and maintain clear design records.
Address interdisciplinary, constructability, quality-control and independent-review comments.
Coordinate structural design with highway, geotechnical, hydrotechnical, drainage, environmental, utility, right-of-way, traffic and construction-staging requirements.
Incorporate foundation, hydraulic, scour, durability, access, temporary works and traffic constraints into design.
Participate in design meetings, interdisciplinary reviews, options evaluations and constructability discussions, and communicate structural requirements to project managers and other disciplines.
Manage assigned scope, schedule, budget and quality.
Tender, Construction and Discipline Support
Respond to technical questions during procurement and construction, and review structural submittals, shop drawings, requests for information, work plans and proposed changes.
Evaluate field conditions and develop practical technical recommendations.
Participate in site, construction, post-construction and warranty reviews where required and consistent with your qualifications.
Complete self-checks and peer reviews, prepare work for senior and independent review, and respond to comments clearly and traceably.
Contribute to design tools, templates, standards, technical guidance and lessons learned, and share knowledge with project staff.
Support proposals, technical approaches, work plans, schedules, fee estimates, client meetings and project interviews.
Contribute to project scoping, technical risk identification and resource planning.
Develop greater project management, technical-leadership and client-facing responsibility as the team grows.
What your experience looks like
Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; a Master’s degree is an asset.
Registered, or eligible for registration, as a Professional Engineer with APEGA.
Approximately 7 to 12 years of progressively responsible bridge or transportation-structures experience; other experience levels may be considered where technical capability strongly aligns with the role.
Demonstrated experience completing structural analysis and detailed design for bridge or transportation structure assignments, including substantial work packages with limited day-to-day supervision.

Strong technical writing, problem-solving, communication, coordination and organizational skills, with the ability to manage assigned scope, schedule, budget and quality.
Willingness to participate in field investigations and travel as required.
