  • Lead or oversee horizontal and vertical geometry, superelevation, grading, cross-sections, intersections, interchanges, roadside design, and complete corridor models.

  • Develop practical and constructible solutions for highway twinning, widening, realignment, rehabilitation, interchanges, and major municipal roadways.

  • Prepare and review design criteria, design reports, drawings, models, quantities, cost estimates, specifications, special provisions, and tender documentation.

Integrated Project Delivery

  • Coordinate roadway designs with traffic operations, drainage, geotechnical, structural, environmental, utility, right-of-way and property, active transportation, and construction staging requirements.

  • Provide early design input during corridor planning, alternatives evaluation, design exception development, constructability review, and traffic accommodation planning.

  • Support tendering and construction through design clarifications, technical inquiries, design changes, construction liaison, and record documentation, as applicable.

  • Coordinate digital design delivery and model interfaces across the multidisciplinary team.

Technical Leadership and Quality Control

  • Provide senior technical leadership and oversight for highway and roadway design deliverables.

  • Perform and document Quality Control reviews of roadway models, calculations, reports, drawings, quantities, estimates, specifications, and tender deliverables.

  • Coordinate responses to interdisciplinary, constructability, and independent review comments.

  • Review and authenticate engineering work for which you accept professional responsibility and are competent to practice, where applicable.

  • Mentor engineers, EITs, technologists, and designers, and support workload planning and assignment of technical tasks.

  • Advance internal standards, templates, design tools, lessons learned, and best practices for highway and corridor design.

Clients, Projects and Practice Development

  • Build and maintain relationships with provincial, municipal, contractor, and transportation sector clients.

  • Help identify and pursue highway design, corridor improvement, rehabilitation, interchange, municipal roadway, and multidisciplinary transportation opportunities.

  • Represent EXP in client meetings, design workshops, technical presentations, and industry activities.

  • Help define team development and recruitment priorities as the Western Canadian highway design practice grows.

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD (Civil 3D), MicroStation (OpenRoads, InRoads), or comparable corridor modelling and highway design tools.
  • Strong knowledge of geometric design, grading, superelevation, constructability, and multidisciplinary roadway interfaces.
  • Experience with traffic accommodation, construction staging, active transportation, utility coordination, quantities, cost estimates, specifications, and tender documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complete highway design work packages and manage technical scope, quality, schedule, budget, risk, and multidisciplinary interfaces.
  • Strong technical writing, communication, mentoring, coordination, client service, and business development skills.

Preferred Experience/Assets
