Application Engineer

Compensation:

• Salary: $85,000 to 135,000/year

Role and Responsibilities:

Technical Strategy & Product Evolution

• Bridge the Gap: Collaborate with Sales, Business Development, and R&D to guide the product development lifecycle based on technical feasibility and customer pain points.
• Iterative Design: Leverage in-field performance data to provide actionable feedback to R&D for feature enhancements and performance optimization.
• Feasibility Testing: Design and conduct experiments to validate the technical viability of potential new projects or custom system integrations.
• Verification: Define and execute product verification procedures to ensure performance across diverse and demanding field applications.

Customer Engagement & Sales Support

• Consultative Solving: Partner with the Sales team to architect tailored, custom solutions for specific customer requirements.
• Revenue Growth: Identify organic growth opportunities within existing accounts by deeply understanding their evolving technical needs.
• Technical Training: Lead post-sales product training sessions (onsite or remote) to ensure customers achieve optimal results.
• Knowledge Transfer: Author high-quality application notes, user guides, and manuals that empower users and demystify complex features.

Field Operations & Quality Control

• Deployment: Travel to customer sites (approx. 10%) for installation, calibration, and alignment of complex systems.
• Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve field application software and hardware issues with speed and precision.
• Quality Advocacy: Monitor and identify emerging quality trends in the field, coordinating with Engineering to implement long-term fixes

Qualifications:

• Education: B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Physics, Math, or a related technical field.
• Experience: Minimum 5+ years of engineering experience in specialized sectors such as machine vision, digital/video processing, opto-mechanical design, robotics, or automation.
• Languages: Strong programming skill in C++ is required (C# and Visual Studio is a significant asset).
• Systems: Comfort working with integrated hardware/software system.
• Problem Solver: Exceptional analytical skills with a knack for resolving technical conflicts under pressure.
• Communicator: The ability to translate "deep tech" concepts clearly with actionable insights.
• Ownership: Self-starter who can manage their own schedule and prioritize tasks without constant oversight.
• Adaptability: Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Languages: Fluency in Japanese, Korean, or Mandarin is considered a strong asset but is not required.
