Job Description –
Role: SQL Database Admin with AZURE Cloud
Type: Full-Time Permanent (Grade 7)
Location: Scarborough, ON
Hybrid: 2 days onsite/week (Wednesday anchor day + 1 flexible day)
Urgency: High Priority - target hire required before October 31st.
This role sits within the Data Platform Services organization, supporting enterprise database modernization and cloud transformation initiatives.
Business Need / Project Overview
The team is currently executing a large-scale migration of applications and databases from traditional on-premises SQL Server environments to Microsoft Azure. The existing team possesses strong DBA expertise but needs additional cloud-focused leadership and technical depth to accelerate migration efforts and support knowledge transfer across the organization.
- Deployment and administration of Azure SQL Database and Azure SQL Managed Instance environments.
- Reduction of manual cloud administration through code-based provisioning and managemen.
The ideal candidate will understand both traditional SQL Server DBA environments and modern cloud database platforms, enabling them to bridge the gap between legacy infrastructure and Azure-based solutions.
