Original job description

Our client is seeking a Business Systems Analyst - Banking/Payments to join their team. As a Business Systems Analyst - Banking/Payments, you will support delivery for banking and payments initiatives, partnering with stakeholders to translate business needs into clear, actionable requirements. If you enjoy working through complex systems, refining processes, and driving requirements clarity across the SDLC, this role is built for you.

Job Title:Business Systems Analyst - Banking/Payments

Location:Toronto (2-3 days / week on site)

Contract Duration: 6 Months + Extension.

Must haves are

Minimum 8 years of experience.
Experienced in supporting medium to large sized projects related to banking and finance domain. (Mandatory)
Strong experience with Technical Landscape such as microservices Eg. Teller Management system, Deposit System. (Mandatory)
Advanced Level knowledge of the business analysis, project management, SDLC, NA banking products and services and able to support the role of the senior business analyst throughout the project delivery life cycle. (Mandatory)
Requirements, Business Rules, and Mock-Ups, Gap Analysis) through the Initiation and Delivery Phase(s) of requirements delivery in mid-level to high-level complexity projects. (Mandatory)

What's the Job?

Support medium to large banking and finance projects by applying a broad range of business analysis techniques throughout the requirements lifecycle.
Work across the Initiation and Delivery phases to produce and refine key requirements artifacts, including user stories, process flow maps, use case specifications, business and technical requirements, business rules, and mock-ups.
Analyze and document gaps through gap analysis to ensure solutions align with business goals and technical landscape realities.
Partner with delivery teams to strengthen requirements quality and clarity across mid-level to high-level complexity initiatives.
Provide senior-level business analysis support across project delivery life cycle activities, ensuring alignment with SDLC expectations and banking domain needs.

What's Needed?

A minimum of 8-10 years of progressive business analysis experience, with strong usage of business analysis techniques across banking and finance projects.
Demonstrated solid business knowledge of the Finance/Banking domain, including experience supporting medium to large sized banking and finance initiatives (mandatory).
Advanced knowledge of business analysis, project management, SDLC, and NA banking products and services, with the ability to support senior business analyst responsibilities throughout delivery (mandatory).
Strong experience with technical landscape concepts such as microservices (e.g., Teller Management system, Deposit System) (mandatory).
Ability to deliver required artifacts through initiation and delivery phases for mid-level to high-level complexity projects (mandatory).
