Graphic Recorder & Visual Facilitation Consultant (workshops, conferences, or strategic planning sessions)
Contract Term: ad hoc / part-time, 4 sessions a year, 8 – 20 hours per session
Work Location: Potentially occasional travel to Victoria, BC; primarily Vancouver, BC
Work Required Overview:
Approximately 4 live sessions per year, plus preparation and post-session work
Each engagement/session is expected to require approximately 8–20 hours across pre-session preparation, on-site live graphic recording, and post-session refinement/finalization.
The consultant will be expected to participate on-site for live sessions.
Role Overview
We are seeking a Graphic & Visual Facilitation Consultant to support facilitated client sessions. This unique role combines strong business acumen and business transformation knowledge with professional illustration and visual storytelling skills.
Working alongside facilitators, the consultant will participate in immersive client sessions and translate complex business discussions, transformation concepts, ideas, and decisions into compelling visual illustrations in real time.
The successful consultant must be able to listen to a business conversation, quickly understand and synthesize what is being discussed, and visually capture the key themes and outcomes as the session unfolds.
Key Responsibilities
Provide live graphic recording and illustration during client sessions.
Listen to complex business and transformation discussions and translate key concepts, themes, ideas, and decisions into visual narratives in real time.
Partner with facilitators ahead of sessions to understand the business context, transformation objectives, audience, and key themes.
Develop concepts and supporting visual materials as part of session preparation.
Apply strong business judgment to identify and visually communicate the most important information emerging from discussions.
Work live alongside facilitators and client stakeholders in an interactive, technology-enabled environment.
Refine and finalize illustrations and visual materials following each session.
Create additional digital illustrations and visual storytelling assets as required.
Required Skills & Experience
Strong professional illustration, graphic recording, and visual storytelling capabilities.
Demonstrated ability to visually capture conversations and concepts live in a client-facing environment.
Strong business acumen, with an understanding of business transformation, strategy, processes, and organizational challenges.
Ability to rapidly listen, synthesize, conceptualize, and visually communicate complex business information.
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Comfortable working alongside facilitators, executives, and client stakeholders in live sessions.
Experience supporting corporate workshops, strategy sessions, transformation initiatives, or facilitated client engagements is highly desirable.
Exposure to business analysis, consulting, strategy, or business transformation is an asset.
