Senior Technical Project Manager - AVEVA PI Implementation
Project Overview
This is a net-new AVEVA PI implementation, not a replacement of an existing system. The organization is seeking a subject matter expert with strong AVEVA PI experience to lead the implementation and expansion of the platform. The infrastructure is already established, so the focus will be on solution delivery, data integration, and platform optimization rather than foundational infrastructure work.
Candidates with backgrounds in data engineering, data analytics, data science, data migration, or industrial data platforms will be well-positioned for this role.
Required Experience
- 10+ years of experience as a Technical Project Manager leading enterprise technology implementations
- Direct experience implementing AVEVA PI (OSIsoft PI) or comparable industrial data platforms
- Strong understanding of data integration, system interfaces, and enterprise reporting solutions
- Deep knowledge of AVEVA PI components, including Asset Framework, templates, elements, attributes, and time-series data structures
- Previous hands-on technical experience in areas such as data mapping, data migration, or systems integration
- Proven ability to drive project delivery and execution, beyond project administration and reporting
- Experience leading large, complex, cross-functional technical teams
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills
- Experience managing enterprise data platform, reporting, analytics, or operational technology implementations
About the Platform
AVEVA PI is an industrial data platform that collects, stores, and visualizes real-time operational data from equipment, sensors, assets, and systems. It enables organizations to improve reporting, analytics, monitoring, and operational decision-making through centralized access to asset performance and operational data.
Position Summary
We are seeking a Senior Technical Project Manager to lead the implementation and expansion of an AVEVA PI platform as part of a broader enterprise data and analytics initiative. This role requires a delivery-focused project leader with hands-on technical experience implementing data platforms, reporting solutions, or industrial operational technology systems.
The successful candidate will work closely with technical, engineering, operations, and business stakeholders to ensure successful deployment, integration, and adoption of the platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end delivery of AVEVA PI-related projects
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, and delivery milestones
- Lead RAID (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, and Dependencies) management activities
- Facilitate technical workshops to gather requirements for data integration, reporting, and analytics
- Coordinate work across IT, data engineering, implementation partners, and business teams
- Oversee implementation of AVEVA PI components, including data ingestion, interfaces, Asset Framework configurations, and reporting capabilities
- Ensure integrations with enterprise applications, maintenance systems, ERP platforms, and analytics solutions
- Monitor project progress and proactively remove delivery roadblocks
- Prepare and present project updates for executive stakeholders and steering committees
- Support change management, data governance, user adoption, and reporting initiatives
Skills & Competencies
- Strong communication skills with the ability to bridge technical and business audiences
- Experience leading technical workshops and stakeholder engagement sessions
- Advanced presentation and executive communication skills
- Expertise in project planning, scheduling, dependency management, and governance
- Confident and proactive leadership style with a strong focus on execution and results
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and drive alignment across cross-functional teams
