Explorance is looking for an experienced Vice President of Quality Assurance to lead our global quality organization and define the vision for software quality across our products and technology organization.
As a senior technology leader, you will own the quality strategy, operating model, and organizational capabilities required to support reliable, scalable, and high-performing SaaS products. You will work closely with executive leaders across Engineering, Product, CloudOps, Security, and other functions to ensure quality is embedded throughout the software development lifecycle and aligned with our business and product priorities.
This role requires a leader who combines strategic vision, strong technical judgment, organizational leadership, and execution discipline. You will be expected to challenge existing approaches, establish clear standards and accountability, and build a modern quality organization capable of supporting Explorance as we continue to scale.
What you'll be responsible for:
Quality Strategy & Executive Leadership
- Define and own Explorance's enterprise-wide quality vision, strategy, and multi-year roadmap, aligned with our product, technology, and business objectives.
- Establish quality as a shared organizational responsibility across Product, Engineering, and Technology.
- Serve as the senior advocate for software quality, bringing a quality and risk perspective to executive-level technology and product decisions.
- Establish clear quality standards, governance, accountability, and measurable outcomes across the software development lifecycle.
- Anticipate future quality needs as our products, technology, customer base, and organization evolve.
- Translate business and product priorities into a scalable quality strategy and operating model.
Quality Engineering & Automation
- Set the strategic direction for quality engineering, test automation, and modern testing practices across the organization.
- Drive the evolution toward scalable, automation-first quality practices while ensuring the appropriate balance of automated and manual testing.
- Ensure automation architecture, frameworks, tools, and practices can support increasingly complex and scalable SaaS environments.
- Champion earlier integration of quality into architecture, design, development, CI/CD, and release processes.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and approaches that can improve quality, productivity, test coverage, and speed to market.
Quality Governance, Performance & Risk
- Establish meaningful quality KPIs and executive-level reporting to provide visibility into product quality, operational performance, and risk.
- Use data and trends to identify systemic quality issues and drive organization-wide improvements.
- Establish governance around release quality, testing readiness, defect management, and quality risk.
- Ensure quality practices support relevant security, compliance, reliability, and customer commitments.
Organizational Leadership
- Build, lead, and evolve a high-performing global QA organization with the capabilities required to support Explorance's growth.
- Assess organizational capabilities and identify opportunities to strengthen skills, processes, structure, and technology.
- Foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, innovation, high performance, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure QA resources and investments are aligned with business priorities, product roadmaps, and organizational needs.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Act as a strategic partner to senior leaders across Engineering, Product, CloudOps, Security, and the broader organization.
- Influence architectural and technology decisions by ensuring quality, testability, reliability, and scalability are considered from the outset.
- Drive alignment across functions on quality priorities, expectations, and accountability.
- Communicate quality performance, risks, priorities, and investment needs clearly to executive stakeholders.
What we're looking for:
We're looking for a senior technology leader who has successfully built, transformed, or scaled quality organizations in complex software environments.
You should bring:
- Hands-on automation experience
- Extensive experience in software quality assurance, quality engineering, or software engineering, including significant experience in senior leadership roles.
- Demonstrated experience defining, executing, and modernizing enterprise-level QA or quality engineering strategies.
- Proven success leading and scaling sizable or geographically distributed technical teams and developing other leaders.
- Strong technical understanding of modern software architecture, SaaS environments, software engineering, automation, and CI/CD practices.
- Strong understanding of quality governance, metrics, risk management, and release management.
- Experience operating at the intersection of Product, Engineering, and business strategy.
- Strong business judgment and the ability to prioritize investments based on risk, customer impact, scalability, and organizational objectives.
- Executive-level communication and influencing skills, with the ability to challenge, align, and build consensus across senior stakeholders.
A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline is an asset, but equivalent technical and leadership experience will also be considered.

This is a full-time, on-site executive leadership position based at our global headquarters in Montreal.
We believe in the value of working together in person and have built an engaged and collaborative office environment. Candidates should therefore be located in Montreal or the surrounding area and be comfortable working from the office five days per week.
