Express Employment Professionals is hiring an Accounting Manager (CPA) for our client, a well-established and client-focused Chartered Professional Accounting firm. This is an excellent opportunity for a designated CPA who enjoys working independently, mentoring junior staff, and delivering high-quality financial and tax services to a diverse client base.
What you’ll be doing:
- Prepare and review audit and review engagements and non-assurance financial statements with appropriate disclosures
- Prepare and review corporate (T2), personal (T1), and other tax returns (T3, T4, T5, etc.)
- Ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP, tax legislation, and professional standards
- Review working paper files and provide detailed review notes for quality control purposes
- Mentor and support junior staff in file preparation and use of software such as Caseware and Sage
- Provide advisory support to clients on tax, payroll, CRA matters, and general business inquiries
- Assist with practice management functions, including monitoring updates to CPA standards and tax rules
- Participate in client meetings and occasional local travel as required
What we’re looking for:
- CPA designation (required)
- University degree in Commerce or Accounting
- Minimum 2+ years of experience in a public accounting firm
- Strong experience preparing financial statements and tax returns
- Solid understanding of GAAP, tax legislation, and assurance standards
- Proficiency with Caseware and Profile (experience with Sage, QuickBooks, or Xero considered an asset)
- Ability to work independently with strong attention to detail
- Leadership skills with the ability to mentor and review junior staff work
- Strong client communication and problem-solving abilities
