Original job description
Electrical Engineering Technologist – Red Deer, AB
Are you the type of Electrical Engineering Technologist who likes to grab a multimeter, troubleshoot a circuit and figure out why something isn’t working?
We’re recruiting for a hands-on Electrical Engineering Technologist to join an established manufacturing operation in Red Deer. This role combines electrical troubleshooting, testing, system integration and technical support in a production environment.
The key requirement: you must be comfortable using a multimeter and electrical test equipment to diagnose electrical problems.
You should be able to confidently:
- Use a digital multimeter to measure voltage, resistance and continuity
- Trace circuits and diagnose electrical faults
- Troubleshoot wiring, sensors, switches, relays and electrical components
- Read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
- Identify whether an issue is related to wiring, a component, configuration or another part of the electrical system
- Bench test electrical components
- Support electrical installation, calibration, testing and repair
- Work directly with manufacturing and service teams to resolve electrical issues
The role also includes configuring equipment and software, assisting with system integration, troubleshooting chassis fault codes, updating electrical documentation and working with CAD drawings.
What we’re looking for:
- Engineering Technologist Diploma, Engineering Degree or equivalent
- Hands-on electrical troubleshooting ability
- Demonstrated experience using a multimeter and electrical diagnostic/test equipment
- Ability to understand electrical schematics and systematically diagnose faults
- Experience with industrial equipment, manufacturing, automotive, heavy-duty equipment or similar electrical systems is highly desirable
- AutoCAD / AutoCAD Electrical experience is an asset
- Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with tools are also valuable
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys being on the manufacturing floor solving real electrical problems, rather than spending the entire day behind a desk.
If you can confidently take a multimeter to an electrical system, take measurements, trace the problem and determine what is wrong, we want to hear from you.
