Additionally, the Capital Asset Manager will support the effective and efficient maintenance of residences in their assigned region. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience managing multiple projects and sites and will apply project management principles while providing strategic operational insight to stakeholders.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Manage a portfolio of capital projects across multiple long-term care homes, including planning, execution, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Develop and support annual capital budgets, forecasts, and building asset replacement plans.
  • Coordinate consultants, contractors, vendors, and third-party engineers to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
  • Assess building assets and infrastructure, identify lifecycle replacement needs, and provide recommendations to support long-term capital planning.
  • Monitor project expenditures, approvals, purchase orders, invoices, change orders, and project documentation.
  • Partner with Executive Directors, Regional Directors, Environmental Services Managers, and other stakeholders to prioritize and execute capital initiatives.
  • Support unbudgeted capital requirements, emergency repairs, regulatory orders, and other critical facility-related needs.
  • Conduct regular site visits to assess building conditions, project progress, and maintenance practices while identifying opportunities to reduce risk and improve efficiency.
  • Provide clear updates and recommendations to operational and senior leadership teams regarding project status, building conditions, risks, and future capital requirements.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

What we’re looking for:

  • Post-secondary education in Engineering, Construction Management, Building Sciences, Facilities Management, a skilled trade, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in capital project management, construction, facilities management, property management, building operations, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience managing capital projects ranging from several hundred thousand dollars to multi-million-dollar initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of building construction, building systems (mechanical and electrical), asset lifecycle planning, and maintenance practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to present recommendations to operational and senior leadership teams.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, problem-solving, and project management skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management tools. PMP designation, trade certification, engineering designation, or technologist credentials are considered assets.
  • Must possess a valid driver's licence, reliable transportation, and be able to travel throughout Manitoba.
